'Please do not sit or lay on the floor,' say signs at Jacksonville antibody clinic

New signage posted at the library after photo showing sick people lying on the floor goes viral

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – New signs are posted at the makeshift antibody clinic at Jacksonville’s downtown library, days after a photo showing sick people lying on the floor there went viral.

“Please do not sit or lay on the floor,” say the signs that greet people showing up for a monoclonal antibody treatment designed to fight early stage COVID-19 infections. “If you require immediate medical attention, please alert a staff member.”

The city has also provided more wheelchairs, seating and additional ways to notify someone if visitors need help while waiting in line to receive antibody treatments from the temporary clinic.

The changes come after a photo showing Toma Dean and another person curled up on the floor of the library was shared widely across social media, resulting in local and national headlines.

there wasn't enough seating, or the seating wasn't mobile, or that the people didn't use it.

The disgraceful thing is that there are so many people sick, that they are unnecessarily sick, that they are so sick, that they are going to a fucking library for treatment with a new niche injectable drug.

The disgraceful thing isn't the goddamned wheelchairs FFS!!!!

Please.do not clutter the floor of the front lobby with dead bodies,....

Please.proceed.to the refrigerated mortuary trailers parked out back of the main building and quietly die out there.

Thank you for your cooperation,... and Death-Santis thanks you also.

Once upon a time, Trump explained matter-of-factly, he was hosting a charity ball at Mar-a-Lago at which several members of the Marine Corps were in attendance, along with a host of rich people "eager to get their picture in the Palm Beach Post," as he put it. Lo and behold, at some point during the evening, an 80-year-old man—"very wealthy," Trump adds, but also, "a lot of people didn't like him"—fell off the stage and hit his head. Trump thought the man had died. "And you know what I did?"

And you have this poor guy, eighty years old, laying on the floor unconscious, and all the rich people are turning away. ‘Oh my God! This is terrible! This is disgusting!’ And you know, they’re turning away. Nobody wants to help the guy. His wife is screaming—she’s sitting right next to him, and she’s screaming.

I was saying, "Get that blood cleaned up! It’s disgusting!" The next day, I forgot to call [the man] to say is he okay!

This is who they are.

“It just seemed very haphazard,” the woman said. " … And there was a waiting room full of people. I saw one woman without a mask and room full of COVID-positive people. This site also caters to people who are getting a COVID test, so some of those people…might be exposed while they’re there.”

News4Jax asked staff inside the clinic about checking patients’ COVID-19 status.
Staffers said most of the people who show up have visible symptoms, so they don’t often check, but they have a system in place where they can see if someone has already tested positive.

Did they give them any chairs to sit in? The picture with those poor sick people on the floor showed no chairs.

Seems pretty heartless.
