I did see another example of this in politics. I don't remember the year, but Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg decided to run for Senator from NY. NY had already seen Bobby Kennedy and Hillary Clinton do that previously and, despite her Democratic creds (or maybe because of them) there was some opposition to it.

Caroline is brilliant and capable, but she did not have the public speaking skills of her political relatives. She inserted a number of "ums" and "uhs" when speaking to a group of supporters. Every single one was included in reports of her speech. Despite good segments where she delivered well, the only parts picked up and played in the media were the sections with ums and uhs.

I actually don’t have a problem as long as it is a complete and accurate transcript. Transcripts should contain all elements of speech (even the uhs, and coughs). I had a problem with TFG releasing edited transcripts.
