MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Healthy and in their 30s, Christina and Josh Tidmore figured they were low-risk for COVID-19. With conflicting viewpoints about whether to get vaccinated against the virus filling their social media feeds and social circles, they decided to wait.
On July 20, Josh came home from work with a slight cough initially thought to be sinus trouble. On Aug. 11, he died of COVID-19 at a north Alabama hospital as Christina Tidmore witnessed a doctor and her team frantically try to resuscitate her husband.
She would say, I need a pulse. I would hear, no pulse, "Christina Tidmore said through tears. They were trying so hard.
Nobody should go through this. He was only 36 and Im 35 and we have three kids.
She is now imploring young adults not to dismiss the risk and to consider getting vaccinated.
Josh was completely healthy, active, not a smoker. He would have turned 37 on Saturday.

(9,998 posts)MAYBE that would convince the other half to get vaccinated.

(13,415 posts)I want to see articles about them all, replete with stories from their regretful families who are now seeking vaccinations. Stories like these are what the media needs to cover 24/7 instead of that Afghanistan withdrawal which the overwhelming majority of people support and do not care about.

(5,897 posts)But I cant. Not anymore. If youre too dumb or stubborn or whatever to get vaccinated and wear a goddam mask, then I just cant care about what happens to you.
I grew up in Alabama, and Ive seen the innate stubbornness that a lot of people have there. This is what it gets you.
I want this goddam pandemic to end, but until the stupid people get vaccinated and wear masks, its just going to drag on.

(790 posts)Thinking that you are at low risk for Covid-19, puts you at high risk for contracting it. The Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, waits for no one. Once infected, your circumstances are a crap shoot. You cannot get the vaccine while your body is being flooded with the virus. Patients ask for the vaccine when they are told that they are about to be placed on the ventilator. While Americans have shunned the vaccine, I fear that there is even a more deadlier variant waiting in the wings behind Delta.

(11,256 posts)Close to 98% of doctors have been or are planning to get vaccinated. There are cranks in any profession, but I'm skeptical that they got bad information from more than one, which is what the story implies.

How ignoring (sic) must one be to assume a covid symptom is a sign of something else, more than a year after corona virus became a daily topic everywhere (believed or not).
Came home with a cough and was dead three weeks later. Did he get tested for covid or discover that from a hospital bed?
