The Republican stance on masks will hurt them in 2022.

.Beyond that no one can say. But in the election 16 months away this stance on not protecting people from the virus for "Individual Freedom" is very stupid. If this continues for 15 months, the Republicans will lose big in November
of 2022. Nevertheless, going beyond 2022 is very hard to predict. Remember in 1972 McGovern lost by a
huge margin, then in 1976, we won the Presidential Election with Jimmy Carter.
Any thing can happen in politics, and often does. The last thing I thought could happen was Donald Trump being
elected President of the United States of America. In looking back, that was very strange. And yes, Any thing can happen
in politics and often does.

that listens, and eventually acts on those facts. That is what matters. The ultimate decision upon events is often
how the response to events are received, and finally what is done with that response. It is often as simple as, " Will
I vote against this situation, or vote in favor of the situation." Even if there is strong dislike for the situation,
if people don't act upon that.."dislike" (in this example, vote against it)..then the situation remains.

By the time the election rolls around, the Afghanistan withdrawal will be ancient history. The American electorate has a notoriously short memory.

As are the hot takes that Afghanistan will be more impactful in 2022 than the raging inferno of Covid we have going on now. When your neighbors 8 year old gets put on a vent it tends to be more impactful than geopolitical entanglements in far off places.
