(22,474 posts)(or some shit) and that's why there has only been 18 or 19 presidents and Trump is going to come back and return our country to a republic instead of a corporation.
It is so convoluted I'm confused trying to remember what I read. But it is all bullshit from Qanon.
I wish someone on the left would set up a Qanon and get these people to stop voting because the voting machines are radioactive or some other nonsense that they will believe.

(10,132 posts)I suppose his positions are more like those of today's GOP than the Republican party of his time, but whatever. Or maybe they're counting Jefferson Davis. And why are they discounting earlier presidents like Jackson (Donnie's fave!), Tyler, and Polk, all vocal slaveholders and states' rights advocates?
I guess I just don't understand the finer points of QOP political philosophy

(36,833 posts)The timeline and logic are hard to follow, but QAnon followers predict Trump will be sworn in on March 4, because that was the start date of new U.S. Presidents until it was changed in 1933.
"They claim that the last legitimate president was Ulysses S. Grant and that now Donald Trump, instead of being the 45th president, will become the 19th president of the restored constitutional republic. January 20th was just a fake inauguration," said Jack Bratich, associate professor of journalism and media studies at Rutgers University, and author of "Conspiracy Panics: Political Rationality and Popular Culture."

(16,348 posts)I was scratching my head over what she said, because 19th sounded so weirdly random. This is the background I needed.
I kind of wish the reporter had said something like "19th? I thought he was the 45th president," just to see what she would say. But I'm sure he was more interested in talking to as many people as possible than going off on tangents like that.

(6,486 posts)...are his own position in the illegitimate government and two elections held by the illegitimate government. And now, the divinely appointed and newly installed legitimate government will install the previous leader of the illegitimate government as the new legitimate leader of the new legitimate government. (111,069 posts)Where is Merrick Garland? Charge his ass. Make him defend himself. Don't give him free rein to continue to tear down our democracy and to divide our country. Charge his ass with sedition and incitement to insurrection. It doesn't matter if he is found guilty or not. Just put him on notice. Or continue to do nothing. And hope for the best.

(111,069 posts)By the way, Donald Trump did not say "something" to offend me. He attacked my country. He incited a mob to attack our Capitol. You know it's true.

The rally on the Ellipse was 100 percent Constitutionally protected. People peaceably assembled to redress their grievances. This was within the concept of 1A all the way. No ifs, ands, or buts.
Smashing the doors and windows of the Capitol? Not so much.
Two different events. Two completely different things.

(57,365 posts)Here is a link to the transcript of Trump's remarks at the Ellipse at noon or thereabouts on January 6, 2021.
Sun Jan 10, 2021: Here is a first draft of a transcript of Trump's speech at the rally at the Ellipse.
FirstDraft - Speech: Donald Trump Holds a Political Rally on The Ellipse - January 6, 2021
Remember, this is just a first draft.
The word "Capitol" appears twice (other than as a tag or keyword):
Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing And only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.
So we're going to -- we're going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we're going to the Capitol, and we're going to try and give -- the Democrats are hopeless, they never voted for anything. Not even one vote. But we're going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don't need any of our help.
The word "capital" incorrectly transcribed instead of "Capitol" appears once. The other appearances refer to "the nation's capital":
Now, it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we're going to walk down and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down, we're going to walk down -- Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the capital and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.
The character string "peace" appears once:
Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing And only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.

We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing And only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.
The character string "walk" appears six times:
Now, it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we're going to walk down and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down, we're going to walk down -- Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the capital and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.

But we're going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don't need any of our help.
and
We're going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country. So let's walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I want to thank you all. God bless you and God Bless America. Thank you all for being here. This is incredible. Thank you very much. Thank you.
The character string "occup," which would cover "occupied," "occupying," "occupation," and so forth, does not appear at all.
kentuck
(111,069 posts)My point is that it would be better to have him occupied in court, defending himself from ridiculous charges, than to tie ourselves in knots over the meaning of a few words in our Constitution, while our country is destroyed.
After all, if he was in the same position, he would take you to court in a New York second. He has done that all his life. He loves the courts.

(16,348 posts)I know that, you know that, lots of people know that.
But (you knew there was a "but" coming, right? 😉 while it's all well and good to "know" something, acquiring and assembling the kind of admissible evidence that is necessary to prove that something in a court of law is a completely different kettle of fish. Please believe me when I say there is a HUGE difference between the two.

(16,348 posts)When TFG is dead and buried, there will probably be rumors of "sightings" for a while, like there were with Elvis.
It probably won't last as long, though. Elvis was only 42 when he died and would be 86 if he were alive today.
TFG is already 75, and he'll probably end up dying of "natural causes." It's harder to gin up viable conspiracy theories about the more or less expected passing of an old man than the untimely death of a 42 year old.

There is no Republic, other than the United States of America. The Confederacy ended in 1865, and it only ever had ONE president, Jefferson Davis who probably should have died in prison, if it weren't for a pardon and large bail posted by sympathetic followers.
Chump was never a southerner - he never supported the Confederacy. He was born and spent most of his life in New York, as a grifting, tax-avoiding real estate guy. He told lies for a living, and he still does it for fun.
