Biden Laughs Off Sagging Poll Numbers, Defends Afghanistan Mess

At a White House press conference on Sunday, President Joe Biden quadrupled down on his decision to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan, arguing that “history” would judge him kindly and that “there is no way to evacuate this many people [from Kabul] without pain.”

And when a reporter cited a new CBS poll, published on Sunday, saying it found “a majority of Americans… no longer consider you to be competent, focused, or effective at the job” amid the humanitarian crisis, Biden laughed it off and grinned widely.

“Look, I had a basic decision to make,” the president replied, before reciting stats on the number of Americans killed and wounded in Afghanistan before the withdrawal, and the money and resources spent there.

“And I decided to end the war,” he said.

The basic fact is we've evacuated well over thirty thousand now, with not ONE single American casualty. I voted for him, and would again. He is leading from the front, get used to it.

his poll numbers have plenty of time to go back up. Elections are a while away, so he doesn't have that to worry about, either. A year is a long time in American politics. There's no telling what will be the pressing issue by then. If this withdrawal from Afghanistan goes all right, nobody but pundits and the MIC will remember it.

He was against staying in Afghanistan when he was Obama's VP. And Trump set it all up. It should not be a surprise that he followed through. Anyone with eyes knew it was going to be a messy leaving-Vietnam type moment, and he obviously knew it too. But he did it anyway. This is strength and leadership. Sometimes a true leader does the thing that is not popular because it has to be done. As someone said, the moment it became about nation building instead of just getting bin Laden and getting out, we were doomed to fail. Biden inherited that and he cauterized the wound the only way that was possible.

Justice matters.

We still must win the Rust Belt...the only reason he wouldn't run is health reasons. And I am praying e stays healthy. We need the GOP bastards out of office for at least two terms-but hopefully longer.

Every elected Democrat should be publicly thanking Joe Biden for his actions in Afghanistan. There should be zero doubt or opposition.

Anything else invites more bullshit from MSM.

There will be books to talk about later. Now it is time to stay united.

many people daily. I have purposely not mentioned Afghanistan, and in no conversation either at work or after work social situations, or discussions online, has anyone brought up Afghanistan since the pull out occurred. In fact Afghanistan has never been discussed except for several years ago when a son of a friend was stationed there. It is just not a great interest to most Americans. But Covid is discussed 24/7.

The poll takers are reacting emotionally to the chaos, not his job performance. His numbers will restore some when the media feeding frenzy and evacuation is over. A couple of legislative victories in the meantime will help too.

Maybe I thought it or maybe I read it but Joe Biden's election to the presidency was a monumental moment of destiny...his demeanor, experience and wisdom were unequaled. He is our last, best hope to fix the country. May the Force be with him between now and 2022...
