White adults account for the largest share of unvaccinated adults in the US

US Texas Governor Dan Patrick blamed rising COVID cases in the US on 'the black people'.

As well, Republicans like to blame the rising cases on immigrants coming across the Southern Border of the US, which has also proven NOT TRUE.

Just on raw numbers, Black people, at about 13% of the total population, are not the "biggest group" of unvaccinated people either in Texas or across the US. An analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that White adults account for the largest share of unvaccinated adults. Even if we dive into the rates, the implication from Patrick that Black people are especially to blame for spreading the virus is not accurate.

According to data analyzed by KFF, Black people made up over 50% of positive Covid cases in only two of the 35 analyzed places as of August 16: the District of Columbia and Mississippi. Specifically, in Patrick's state of Texas, Black people represent 15% of cases, Hispanics 52% and White people 32%.
In his response to CNN, Patrick's office pointed to a Facebook post from the Lieutenant Governor which incorrectly claimed "Federal and State data clearly indicate that Black vaccination rates are significantly lower than White or Hispanic rates."

On this point, Patrick is wrong as well, since data suggests the difference across racial groups is not that clear. According to analysis of self-reported data from KFF, 65% of Black adults said they had received at least one dose of the vaccine compared to 70% of White adults and 61% of Hispanic adults. A different KFF analysis says that in 40 states, 50% of White people are vaccinated and 40% of Black people are vaccinated.

The KFF analysis notes that "Black and Hispanic people remain less likely than their White counterparts to have received a vaccine." However, vaccination rates among Black people continue to increase while the rate among White people is on the decline.

The number of new daily Covid cases continues to rise in the state of Texas, up 24% over the past two weeks. The number of patients hospitalized with the virus continues to climb as well. "Hospital capacity concerns worsening. Fatalities are increasing faster," the state's Department of State Health Services said Wednesday

for increase in COVID cases. Fact is, it's the unvaccinated whites (Republicans/American Taliban/Vanilla ISIS led around the nose by Q-Anon and OAN) that are the cause of the increase in COVID cases and subsequent mutations of the virus.

Her excuse is that she wants to wait to see how safe it is. THE FDA JUST FULLY APPROVED THE PFIZER VACCINE TODAY.

She'll have another excuse now. She's being stupid. She works at home but her husband interfaces with the public all day every day. THEY WILL GET COVID. No doubt about that.

And those younger than her believe they are invincible.

Whever I go to a store, the vast majority (90%+) of unmasked people are white, usually older men, but not always. Another thing in common ... the foul looks on their faces. I wish they'd mask up, just so I don't have to see their ugly mugs

Those who flouted the rules were - almost without exception - white, the vast majority of whom were male.

Are we finding new white people or is the vaccine wearing off?

The statistics are bit muddled in this story.

as the number of people eligible to take the vaccine go down everyday, the rate has to go down as well.

You simply can't have the same (new) rate when the population is getting close to 80%, as you do when the population is at 0 to 50%.

In the muddle middle that statistic is meaningful. But not on the ends of the bell curve.

eg (not actual figures) "Whites are 60% of the population, and Blacks 15%. In June, Whites were 65% of vaccinations, and Blacks 13%; in July Whites were 61% and Blacks 14%". That might be put as the White vaccination rate decreasing, and the Black increasing, and it would also mean the White rate is still ahead of the Black, but if the trends continue, it won't be, in August.

The article is rather muddled on the statistics.

That's probably the fault of the reporter, who is rarely an expert on anything.

The source data is probably much better than the reporters spin of it.

And what is bolded in the OP are only the data about whites. The data about Blacks and Hispanics does not get this treatment. Why? What is the agenda?

From the OP: 65% of Black adults said they had received at least one dose of the vaccine compared to 70% of White adults and 61% of Hispanic adults.

"Black and Hispanic people remain less likely than their White counterparts to have received a vaccine."

This is completely in line with the CDC data which shows Blacks and Hispanics have the lowest rate of vaccinations.
