I don't know if I'm just catching watching them at the wrong time - but it looks to me that they are going out of their way to cast blame on Biden or the handling of the evacuation of Afghanistan.
In fact - most of what I'm catching in the MSM seems to take relish on the fact that Biden's poll numbers are dropping because of his handling of this Afghan mess that Trump left him with and also the rise in Covid based on the Delta variant and the fact that Repug's are working against the administrations efforts in dealing with Covid - encouraging anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers.
I'm totally fed up with the news coverage as of late. They are just not treating Biden fairly.
What I really appreciate about Biden and his administration is that they have been very visible, vocal and informative in both cases - the Afghan evacuation and the surge in Covid.
They seem to be going out of their way to keep us informed with the facts. All these so-called talking head experts are always taking unfair shots at Biden.
Me.

(2,962 posts)Not Trump.
He invited the Tailban in.
Removed most of the troops.
Took out 10 airfields.
Did nothing but denied exit to Afgans that help
us.
Left President Biden the mess he created.

(53,410 posts)Sometimes I pretend that I am watching a movie when things get stressy. It makes me aware that Im watching history as it unfolds. Something I appreciate a lot. Thats what it is, history.
Also, I approve of ending this putrid war. I hated it when the Bush administration called it the forever war. That was a foul trick to cover up the lucre aspect as an occupying force.

(12,232 posts)Pres Biden will be ok. The withdrawal is on point and many are leaving and are safe. Social media in most part are relaying the facts so the message is getting out. MSNBC evening is the one to watch where facts will come out and apparently a lot of positive news.

(7,597 posts)I heard yesterday the CIA told the Administration that the Afghan forces would be able to sustain themselves for at least 6 months after our troop departure - they collapsed in 2 weeks. That changed everything.
However, Biden is President and is responsible for what happens during his watch. Even in the best of circumstances I think the evacuation would have been difficult. I do wonder why the evacuation of Embassy staff and Americans did not happen sooner?
The next step of welcoming the Afghan refugees will bring even more strife - I hope it doesn't put all of the progress we have made in just a few months on hold. We need to push for accountability of the previous administration or else expect for it to happen.....and it will.

(12,265 posts)If you look at their ratings post Trump they are horrible. People are not going to the media every day to see what stupid thing 45 did that day. Now they have to manufacture drama, and they are good at it.

(68,552 posts)me yell at the TV the way Democrats are attacked by even 'friendly media' like MSNBC and CNN. I haven't watched Chris Hayes since the night during the primary where he and some guest sneered at Biden chances to be the nominee for an hour...giggling like teenagers. That was it for me. During the election, I had MSNBC on but mostly without audio unless they were looking at numbers. And the last day I spent any time watching was on January 6th... I feel much more peaceful now.

(50,290 posts)it's always about the ratings and they haven't had anything to hyperventilate and push as 'OMG' material by the Biden Administration until now. I am catching up on other non-political shows I like right now and am hoping they move on soon but not holding my breath.

Ive always been a proponent of keeping the public informed all along. Its good policy. It makes the public feel valued and respected and it tells us the ongoing facts. Its also transparency in action. A promise kept.

(7,812 posts)the reporting negativity which does not come with background, analysis of motivations, history. No nuance, only alarmism...which sells more than nuance and balance.
THIS administration is fundamentally different than the previous yet the media reports as though something is fundamentally wrong with it rather than acknowledging the complications and history.
This WH is characterized by competence, empathy, public interest, and by a good man at the top. The reporting ignores the motivations of THIS administration, ignores the variables and dynamics of the place and instead reflects an unspoken implication that Biden and WH might run on greed, malice, cruelty, addiction to loyalty, grift, incompetence, cronyism, lack of organization...etc., which should sound like a familiar description.
Same with covid reporting

(35,325 posts)of the COVID. I don't get it, how is he at fault for those morons not getting vaccinated? As far as Afghanistan why did we turn over air bases before we got people out? I don't know how to argue with a Trumpster on that move.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)It was not our decision, and was not done in consultation with the US.
Recall that Biden was left with only 2,500 troops in a country of 38,000,000, the size of California and Oregon put together.
And he was told by Intel services that the Afghan forces could hold the cities for 6 months after we left, at least.

(35,325 posts)over. Apparently our so called military intelligence really dropped the ball. I think once we get everyone out we should destroy the weapons we left behind, screw Russia or whoever donesn't like it. Put the Taliban back on horse back.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)Are you a military strategist?
Also note that Biden flooded in 5,000 troops to secure the Kabul airfield. Should we have made that 55,000 troops to secure another 10?
That's very much 'going in the wrong direction' during a withdrawal, and a force that size is not a trivial matter, logistically.

(24,365 posts)was recently interviewed and her response to that accusation, that those fighters were cowards and didn't want to fight for their government was;
They weren't cowards. In fact, she related they were among the bravest soldiers she had ever come across.
It wasn't that they didn't want to fight, they just didn't want to fight for the government WE LEFT THEM.
This idea that those individuals just dropped their weapons and ran away at the first sign of adversity is a myth. Once again, American foreign policy has utterly fucked up a country, and people are surprised at how the people in that country react.

(5,128 posts)MSNBC has no ties to the Dems like Fox does to the Pukes. They deserve more of our scrutiny than Fox even.
Joe Biden will be scrutinized by all observers, even here at DU. He'll make unpopular decisions like all presidents do, and we will hold him accountable to do the best for all Americans. So far, he rates pretty high.
But MSNBC is no ally to Americans any more than Fox. They are here to make a buck, and like Fox, they will stir shit up for the ratings.
They don't care about you. That's why they cancelled Phil Donahue, Ed Schultz, Keith Olbermann, and Melissa Harris-Perry.
We will not prop up Chuck Toad or Joe or even Rachel when/if they lie to us.
Stay vigilant. Read as many sources as the Internet can offer. Support investigative journalism. Fight confirmation bias.
