General Discussion

I ventured into a local FB group discussion on Covid/masks/kids/school. Been trying to avoid them for a while now. I was deep into "discussions" during a few month furlough last year, trying to lay out the facts and charts and trends and studies, etc.
But yet here we are, 18 months into this pandemic and the SAME goddamn idiocy is still very rampant among at least 30% of Americans, and a good-sized cluster of over-privileged me-monsters in my area.
Sick of them....I'm *this* close to just hoping they all get it but then I think about the needless suffering of any kids involved, through no fault of their own, just their goddamn covidiot parents.

(9,957 posts)it for a long time but this particular discussion keeps coming up on my feed 2-3 times a day so I decided to jump in. I live in Canada and I am so tired of these lunatics spouting off bullshit. We have 77% with one vaccine and 66% fully vaccinated and polls have shown that only 8% of Canadians will refuse to get vaccinated. They are however loud, obnoxious and relentless with their bullshit so I jumped in. I am expecting a fight but I don't care it is time the 92% have a voice.

A peer review of the study said estimates were imprecise and not statistically significant.
But that didn't phase the qultist.
And it was 10 years ago, in Vietnam, and didn't describe the cloth masks at all and was geared toward HCWs who wear masks for hours and hours.

Yes, if I was a healthcare worker, I would be wearing the medical grade masks. It depends on who you are interacting with. They also have the same grade masks for kids and my son and daughter-in-law are looking to get them for their children.

They've done a lot of data modeling, themselves, of masks and airflow in a room or outside with and without masks. Wonderful work that I cannot share publicly but these masks work well. I've had my son wearing one to school but we're all vaccinated. Still, not taking chances where we don't have to

over it, over it, over it! it's so frustrating!
So did I! Just got home half an hour ago. We just have to let nature take its course, those who want to avoid the awful death will, the rest... C'est la vie.

(13,034 posts)rate we are going now. So that means we will be living with this virus pretty much forever. And we will continue to risk getting a new variant that is resistant to the current vaccines. If that happens we will all be back at square one.
