In the pouring rain here in Hanoi, VP Harris took a moment of silence and laid flowers at the monument where John McCains plane was shot down by the North Vietnamese in 1967. Its the three-year anniversary of McCains death.

The @VP visited the John McCain memorial in Hanoi where his plane was shot down by the North Vietnamese in 1967. Its the 3-year anniversary of his death. She told us hes an American hero and loved our country. She said she was honored to serve alongside him in the Senate.

(8,810 posts)Any monument to Trump, or his grave, will need to be surrounded for 10' around with concrete instead of grass, and have a bunch of drains installed in the Concrete slabs...........

(21,431 posts)else be cremated and have his ashes scattered because of the number of people who will want to desecrate his remains.
Imagine the stench if he is cremated. Talk about air pollution!

(3,406 posts)that there IS a monument to John McCain in Hanoi. While not vindictive, it honors the people that shot him down.
Here is the text of that monument (translated).
Here on 26 October 1967 at Truc Bach Lake in the capital city of Hanoi John Sidney McCain was shot out of the sky in his A4 aircraft by local citizens militia defending Yen Phu. There were 10 other planes shot down on the same day.
I am wondering if the Vice President has now earned the "Jane Fonda" treatment from the right.

Anyway, its a nice gesture on the VPs part. We have a lot to atone for in that country. This is what you get with adults running the show.
Still, it brings home what a waste that war was
50,000 plus dead Americans and 1 million dead civilians. We get kicked out in defeat and they are building McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises a decade later. Now its a beautiful vacation spot.
