VP Harris laid flowers @ the monument where McCain's plane was shot down on 3yr anniv of his passing

In the pouring rain here in Hanoi, VP Harris took a moment of silence and laid flowers at the monument where John McCain’s plane was shot down by the North Vietnamese in 1967. It’s the three-year anniversary of McCain’s death.

ETA some still photos...

The @VP visited the John McCain memorial in Hanoi where his plane was shot down by the North Vietnamese in 1967. It’s the 3-year anniversary of his death. She told us he’s “an American hero” and “loved our country.” She said she was honored to serve alongside him in the Senate.

Any monument to Trump, or his grave, will need to be surrounded for 10' around with concrete instead of grass, and have a bunch of drains installed in the Concrete slabs...........

Said: If you want to honor my father's legacy, you would spend every second getting every American and Afghan ally out of harm's way in Afghanistan. He understood sacrifice and loyalty to the people he served with.

Disgusting.

Imagine the stench if he is cremated. Talk about air pollution!

He commented that he didn’t understand why anyone joined the military because there wasn’t anything in it for them. I’m sure he meant there was no profit in it because greed is his primary motivator. The concepts of honor and loyalty to country are far beyond his ability to comprehend.

that there IS a monument to John McCain in Hanoi. While not vindictive, it honors the people that shot him down.

Here is the text of that monument (translated).

“Here on 26 October 1967 at Truc Bach Lake in the capital city of Hanoi John Sidney McCain was shot out of the sky in his A4 aircraft by local citizens militia defending Yen Phu. There were 10 other planes shot down on the same day.”

I am wondering if the Vice President has now earned the "Jane Fonda" treatment from the right.

If she didn’t visit the memorial they would call her disrespectful and un-American and a troop hater.

Anyway, it’s a nice gesture on the VP’s part. We have a lot to atone for in that country. This is what you get with adults running the show.

Still, it brings home what a waste that war was —

50,000 plus dead Americans and 1 million dead civilians. We get kicked out in defeat and they are building McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises a decade later. Now it’s a beautiful vacation spot.

I wonder if there are monuments to all the aviators shot down in Vietnam.
