'As they're being intubated, they still don't believe it.' The COVID denial won't die

“Even if we get a lull, and maybe the census goes down a little bit, it’s going to keep spiking all winter. And we know that, and it’s just exhausting to think about it.”

One man walked out of a Kansas City hospital, still tethered to oxygen. And 12 hours later, he was on a ventilator in another emergency room. | Opinion from Michael Ryan

Our friends in health care have seen plenty to impale the heart in this COVID-19 pandemic, but nothing more tragic than this: the sight of guilt-ridden young children who believe they’ve killed an unvaccinated parent by bringing the virus home.

“And as they’re dying, the kids are at the bedside apologizing,” a hospital nurse tells me.

“You’ve actually seen that?” I ask her.

“Multiple times,” says the nurse.

My Kansas City nurse friend, who can’t use her name because she isn’t authorized to speak to the media, occasionally shares this inconceivable, untold tragedy with dinner companions who obnoxiously insist on spouting their anti-vaccine views to her over burgers and beer.

I couldn't deal with fools like this.

I went thru hell with both my parents health raise.

It took a toll on me.

PTSD.

I can more them appreciate what the medical personal are dealing with.

I was not upset when parents died.

It was a relieve.

Until you have been there you do not know.

My mother in the nursing home and my father at home.

I had to put up a emotional wall to survive.

These medical people will not be the same.

They will need help.

I got help and it made a difference.

That why my mother was in the nursing home.

Still then you have to go to the home and deal with things.

I tried reasoning with a couple of anti-vaxxers and was shocked when they protested their "concerns weren't being respected." I'm really tired of taking into account these people's concerns about the vaccine. Most of these imbeciles will never come around. Fuck them.

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (WESH) — At West Side Crematory in Winter Garden, they’re overwhelmed with the remains of people that need to be cremated.

There’s an influx of bodies like they’ve never seen, worse than the first wave of COVID-19. The area where bodies are stored prior to being cremated is stacked to the ceiling. The staff is working day and night to honor the dead.
Earache could be new emerging COVID-19 symptom, according to doctors

WESH 2 called 20 funeral homes and crematories and many were too busy to be part of our story. Some were too busy to even talk on the phone. One funeral director said that in a 30-minute period where he talked to his partner, four new cases came in.

Mike Marchetti, the area manager for Newcomer Funeral Homes, says as much as they don’t want to, sometimes they have to delay meetings with families and delay funerals because they only have so much staff.

There were more bodies then could be burnt.

The biggest wave so far had us consistently over 200,000 cases a day, lasting around 6 weeks.
Related to that period, deaths were 3,500-4,200 per day. So, roughly one in every sixty cases resulted in death.
We've now been in this delta surge since mid July or more than 5 weeks. We're averaging over 150k cases per day, which is disappointingly high, given the availability of the vax, but deaths have not hit 1,000 per day. So, the case:death ratio is over 150. And, we're well past the death lag period for this wave.
And, thankfully the 7 day moving average line of cases is flattening some.
Now, in low vax areas, all bets are off. But, for the country as a whole, I don't see in the data the support for your prediction that makes me go with it.

anti-vaxx MAGAs. Those people really tend toward the abusive and belligerent and just unpleasant to be around.

And these medical people have to deal with that imbecility while they do everything they can to save these people's lives and health.

The entire Republican party is a covid breeding farm. It's not just the MAGATS.

Follow strict protection protocols, even if you are triple vaxxed. It's just a matter of time before the QOP variant emerges.
