Biden announced 8/31 as our departure date on July 8th.

That's about 7and a half weeks ago, over 50 days ago. I can't help but think that smart
Americans would have made arrangements to depart long ago. Many of those remaining are
likely to be contractors making big bucks. I also can't help but think that this reminds me of
people who won't get a vaccination and cause a resurgence of covid.
Now several Americans soldiers have been killed and wounded trying to get those stragglers out.
Sure, there are extenuating circumstances for some, but why didn't they try to leave weeks ago? Most
people in Afghanistan knew that the Afghan army would fold, especially in the wake of the trump-Pompeo deal.
This whole f'ing thing has pissed me off since 9/11.

They had been rescued from Afghanistan as refugees in the past.
Now they have to be rescued a second time.

It is too bad that our soldiers had to die getting folks out who really should have gotten out sooner...

But I've seen people struggle to find a new home in the same city within 60 days.

Unfortunately, there will always be a group that is last. No way around that.

It's like the old joke about doing away with the last day of school since no teaching happens that day.

But I think it's a little classless to dump on people in truly dire straights right now. That's all I'm saying.

I feel for these folks. Finding a new job, a new home, a new life while dodging bullets is something that I wouldn't wish on anyone. the last of their worries is someone bagging on them from an anonymous internet chat site.

sold all my houses in less than two weeks. But if you are in danger, you take what you can carry and get the hell out of dodge...these are pretty wealthy people I bet making lots of money as contractors...they can stay in a hotel or use Airbnb I can't believe I said 'Army brat...Dad would be very disturbed!
