(33,643 posts)Given how much we all know he cares about the men and women in uniform, I would not be surprised if he's spent a good portion of the day pondering whether he should resign.
*I* am not saying that he should or I want him to, AT ALL.
You KNOW this has hit him extremely hard and it's a very good bet that he's putting a lot of it on himself. Hell, many would in his shoes.

(2,162 posts)He has remained resolute in his mission for withdrawal.

(33,643 posts)Knowing of him what I think I do ... I would bet he's very distraught, and at least in part, blaming himself.
Not that he should blame himself, but I'd guess he might.
When this is all over, in a few weeks or months, someone close to him will probably go public with how it impacted him.
We'll see who was correct when that happens.

(2,162 posts)Odd response. I am not in some prognostication contest with you.
The President is a good man, and I am sure self-reflection will be on the menu.
I do not, however, believe that he's wringing his hands wondering if he should just pack it in even as Americans are dying.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)one way or the other.
And I'm 100% sure he's not going to do it, esp. not, as you say 'as Americans are dying'.

(1,654 posts)The weight of the office is heavy, but I think he's prepared for it.

(33,643 posts)I'm thinking if I'm in his shoes, I've been bashed for 11 days straight, few Democrats are publicly coming to my defense in that time, in fact Dem leaders in the House are calling for investigations ... and now this happens?
Knowing how much and how deeply he cares about the safety and lives of our soldiers ... as well as knowing that a serious intelligence failure (Kabul falling almost instantly) happened on his watch ...
The totality of that situation (much of it he's being unfairly blamed for, as I've very consistently said the past 11 days) would cause ME to question whether I'm the right person for the job.
But I'm nowhere near the man Joe Biden is, I freely admit.

(46,893 posts)What do civilians think war is like? It is brutal, horrific and deadly.
Even the end game. Jebus God, people get with the program and understand what war is like.

(1,654 posts)These soldiers were there on a humanitarian mission, trying to write a hopeful end to a long and grim war.
Politically, it's simply disgusting how quickly Republicans used these dead soldiers to gleefully attack President Biden.
