Not a minor thing and the subcutaneous route is under emergency authorization only, as is this use for COVID-19 treatment. Supposedly the very thing they wanted to "avoid" with the vaccines and their previous (Pfizer, at least) EUA.

(46,700 posts)Political hypocrisy. Frustrating the number of vaccinations hurts Biden. Regeneron helps Republican pockets. So fucking stupid. These people don't even need to hear the tune of a Pied Piper. The Piper just needs to show he has the pipe in his hand.

Tax dollars are paying for the drug. Looks like Medicare Medicaid or private insurance pays for the infusion.

Showing results for How are monoclonal antibodies administered?
How is monoclonal antibody therapy administered? Dr. Huang: Monoclonal antibody therapy is given through intravenous (IV) infusion. These infusions are given in one of our outpatient infusion centers and require about an hour to administer, followed by an hour of observation and monitoring.Aug 20, 2021

(102,225 posts)in the tweet from a pretty thorough review of that supposed Foundation (why the .gov is a major question as idahealthcovid19 is an .org). Yes, the organization exists, but that is not information eminating from their website.
Yes, monoclonal antibodies are intended to be administered IV infusion, but under EUA, they can be given as I indicate upstream in 2-4 subcutaneous injections )depending on dose) to abdomen, thigh, back of arms.
I have a feeling some of what you've posted is coming from sites unrelated to the FL effort and is thus very misleading. it would be hard to imagine that they would do DRIVE-through intravenous infusion and not subcutaneous administration. Your citation may well have come from a discussion of its original administration authorization in official standing health care settings-- possibly from the CMA or other site.
I wish we would be more cautious about posting Twitter streams like this for important medical information especially when some within the Twitter stream are posting images, rather than the actual links for the information they cite--something that lends readily to disseminating intentionally faux information.

(10,424 posts)I'm terribly afraid for my friends and my MIL in Florida. Fortunately, they're all very smart people and are masking and staying put. But, my friend's mom is in a nursing home with late-stage Alzheimer's. Even though she's vaxxed, she's still at risk.
