She won in 2020 with 51 percent of the vote. Perhaps nancy said ok to this to ensure re-election next year. Clearly the area is purplish blue.

send money to her opponent...and if she has national aspirations...running for president...I can make sure to vote against her and work for other candidates of my choice. Loyalty matters.

Congressperson Wild might drop everything in her life and dash to a secure location and work 24/7 to impart her wise strategies and vision on how to better, peacefully withdraw.

this Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld disaster has been something of a forgotten war...a war we were never going to "win"... payback for 9/11?...then send special ops in to get bin Laden not carpet bomb a whole country...as for the evacuation..did she think this was going to be anything other than a clusterfuck??..20 years worth of military and support staff, contractors, mechanics, medical personnel, heavy equipment..not exactly a UHAUL kind of extraction...I don't care if she's Dem...she doesn't know shit...

She sits on the Foreign Relations Committee, and heard testimony on May 18 of this year from:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zalmay_Khalilzad

Snip.
On May 18, 2021, at a U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on U.S. policy in Afghanistan, Khalilzad downplayed the prospect of a swift Taliban takeover when U.S. forces leave saying, “If they [Taliban] pursue, in my judgment, a military victory, it will result in a long war, because Afghan security forces will fight, other Afghans will fight, neighbors will come to support different forces.” He later added at that same hearing, “I personally believe that the statements that the [Afghan] forces will disintegrate, and the Talibs will take over in short order are mistaken. The real choices that the Afghans will face is between a long war and negotiated settlement.”[35][36] Despite this statement, the 2021 Taliban offensive culminated in a swift Taliban takeover and the dissolution of the Afghan National Army.

There is no easy way. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. If Trump hadn't blocked all those visas, that might have helped in getting people out earlier.

I also think that some aspects of the withdrawal might have been done better, but not by much. Trump set this up. Miller obstructed. And, don't forget that the Trump Regime did not cooperate in the transition to Biden's administration, instead denying the election altogether. It is unforgivable. It is traitorous.

...are you of the opinion that the evacuation plan WAS well organized and implemented? FWIW - she didn't specify WHO should be held responsible.

On the ground intelligence suggested the Afghan army would be a tough out.
That intelligence was clearly wrong.
Garbage in, garbage out.
The evacuation plan doesn't have to be egregiously mishandled if the entire premise was based on information egregiously in error.
It could then be a failure, not of execution, but of intel.

She should keep her mouth shut. Now is not the time to shiv the CiC. The GOP are trying at every turn to unseat Biden. Pick a side, choose. She up with the GOP? And, what does egregious mean? She is greatly appalled that we are loyal to those that helped us out for the last 20 years? Punishment in the ME has in the past meant being burned alive in a cage, being beheaded, having your tongue cut out. So, what is Joe guilty of, egregious loyalty? What did anyone think was going to happen?

What did Trump do with the Kurds? He abandoned them, making pussyfoots with Erdogan. I wish that we had somehow gotten all those going ashore that wanted to at some collection point, but there probably wasn't time. At least we didn't abandon them. Most of the chaos has been caused by desperate civilians. We won't save everyone, but we will get most of them. They should check documentation out of country, and sort it out later. But, that's not a perfect plan, either.
