Especially the ‘wrung out’ part. I feel like a dirty dish rag that’s been twisted asunder. Fordone. Autumn can’t arrive too early to suit me.

More recently, it has been turned around, and we say, "Now I'm done for." Or we used to say that. It's pretty much obsolete now, even i the reversed form.

Then, there's "forlorn," which is also a good word. However, nobody knows what "lorn" means or meant. It's no longer used, except in "forlorn."

I don't think she does a Word for the Day every day. Oftentimes the words seem to be very rare and in response to some news story or other or how the nation seems to be feeling generally (just my observation).

this is from wikipedia:

Susan Francesca Dent (born 19 November 1964)[1][2] is an English lexicographer, etymologist and media personality. She has appeared in "Dictionary Corner" on the Channel 4 game show Countdown every year since 1992. She also appears on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, a post-watershed comedy version of the show presented by comedian Jimmy Carr. She has been Honorary Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) since 2016.[3]

She is fun to follow on twitter.
