'When the bell rings, you're in my hallway': Video shows school employee punching a 7th-grader

A school security monitor was arrested and fired from a Florida school after he was caught on video punching a middle-schooler in the shoulder.

According to WSVN, the incident occurred on Thursday. In a cell phone recording of the event, the monitor, Antwan Ruffin, is seen shoving the child.

“Try me,” says Ruffin, who stands 6 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. “When the bell rings, you’re in my hallway.”

Ruffin is seen shoving the student first. The boy says something in response, but it’s not heard in the video. The 40-year-old monitor continues to scream at the child.

“Bring them all,” Ruffin said, referring to kid's father and uncle. “I ain’t scared of none of them. Bring them all.”

After Ruffin asks whether the child wants a phone to call, he hits the kid in his right shoulder. Ruffin later holds him by his backpack and escorts the kid down a flight of stairs.

Ruffin was arrested by Miami-Dade Schools Police and charged with child abuse with no great bodily harm and battery, WSVN reports. He posted bond and was released on Thursday night.

That people seem to live in?

You don't think a white school employee punching a student hard and then captured on video wouldn't be canned and charged (did you hear how hard it was)? You think parents anywhere would just sit on down for that one? These are people who freak out at school board meetings over crop tops.

Completely unnecessary injection of race just for giggles, I guess. Don't have enough going on in the world. Gotta get a shot about white people in there. Which is pretty racist in the usual patronizing way. Racist because of the usual superfluous white people commentary. Racist because instead of commenting on the alleged assaulter responsible, there's a reflexive pivot to diffuse commentary to another race (the patronizing bit).

Let's not neglect the fact he isn't wearing his mask while right in the student's face.

What world do YOU live in, where justice is divided out evenly across racial lines? As for your "giggles" comment, I'm not sure what made you think my comment had any humor whatsoever injected.

His hallway? Not getting it.
What I find most disturbing is that this guy's job was to KEEP the peace.
I don't care what the kid said, the guy paid to maintain order does NOT throw the first punch.
He's there to break up fights, not start them.

Most bullies are cowards, but someone who beats up children is beneath contempt. I hope he’s not married.

Brother Frank, who could have gotten his point across in a way not involving violence.

Brother Frank who got off in making children fear him? Hmmm.... wonder why.
