Rand Paul Says Hatred for Trump Influences Scientists Not Studying Ivermectin as Potential Covid-19
Treatment
Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) claimed that researchers wont study ivermectin, a toxic anti-parasitic used to treat parasitic worms, lice, and skin problems in livestock because of their hatred for ex-President Donald Trump.
Although he acknowledged that he does not know if ivermectin works, Paul said he will keep an open mind.
Former President Trump often promoted treatments that have not been shown to be effective in preventing or curing Covid-19 infections. He infamously endorsed using hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, when in office, even though doctors advised against it.
Ivermectin has not been shown to be effective in preventing or curing Covid-19 infections. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned advised individuals to stop taking it after receiving reports that people had been hospitalized for using the drug.

(11,691 posts)You see hatred for Trump has "tainted" those studies, and any other study that methodically and according to all of the known safeguards of science, that doesn't show any benefit of using those drugs which Paul and Trump are promoting.
That way, in true scientific fashion, cause you know Paul is an Ophthalmologist (licensed by the fake board he invented when the official State Board wouldn't license him); anything that doesn't fit into the narrowly defined, acceptable narrative, can be dismissed as biased.
That is the only thing that Conservatives/Republicans are good at, framing the narrative. Since they have no sense of shame, and do not seem to care about facts and truth, they are able to make things up and promote them. Their built in media ecosystem, then reports on the issue, then the politicians go out and say, "This is being reported everywhere" or "People are saying..."
It is disgusting, but it is effective.

(15,001 posts)then, and only then, can he discuss the scientific validity of Commander Covidiot's treatment regimens.
(Though I suspect, midway through his esophagus bleaching and UV high colonic he'll be begging for ivermectin to help flush his system.)

Stupid people vote for Paul.
Smart people either vote for his opponent, or are disenfranchised through the GOP trickery and fuckery in Kentucky.
As long as the stupid people are the majority in Kentucky - America is stuck with this taint wart.
