Tweet text:Georgia will teach cops to do DUI blood draws on the road.

Who's concerned about another state having cops with needles to stick in random people's arms or else?

ATLANTA (AP) - State officials say a new grant will be used to provide training for Georgia law enforcement officers to draw blood from drivers suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety says it has received an impaired driving grant of about $44,000 that it plans to use to establish a phlebotomy program.

The agency says it will be used to train state and local officers and to buy equipment for the certified officers to use to draw blood.

The agency says that training officers to draw blood will help in the prosecution of DUI cases because it will provide critical toxicology evidence.

I’d imagine some get dismissed due to the blood being drawn too late. I think everyone agrees that drinking while driving is not good.

Given how many cops approach DUI and drug possession (ie fabrication of evidence). There is a good series of reports about the Drug Whisperer in Youtube. Also we have the cop planting drugs in Florida.

Having an independent nurse doing this seems like a good check in the system. Not perfect but a start. 0.08 is already historically low.

if I ever get picked up for DUI I will insist on a blood test. I could see balance issues for me with some sobriety tests.

who can just tell by looking at you that are under the influence. In fact the DW's supervisors have made statements trusting their DW instead of the blood test.
