(28,243 posts)...you'd think he'd know that there's always another war to cover. He really flashed his ass, today.

(4,919 posts)I missed something on MSNBC apparently.
But, he is now way over the top... Too invested, and not objective... I get his passion, but that's not his job.

(7,113 posts)He claimed no US troops have died in combat in Afghanistan in the 2 years before the exit.
It's easy enough to look up. 10 died in combat there since Aug 2019, even more if you include equipment crashes, falls etc.
So the war correspondent opposes war's end. Guess we shouldn't be surprised.

(58,604 posts)he started editorializing a bit too much for my sanity. He used to report more factually and not so opinionatey.

(8,684 posts)He misled about a lot. He seems to have forgotten Turkey and maybe should show some concerns for Saudis atrocities toward women. Maybe he can go cover to drug lords creating the hell that women and children are facing, forcing them to our southern border. He certainly thinks Afghan has been amazing lately and we need our children and money there forever. Some one ask him about Bidens infrastructure bills and if he thinks thats affordable. And the American Taliban.

There seems to be nothing substantive in this post and comments other than how much this person has done something wrong.
Oh, well. Let's talk about media personalities again. TikTok, etc.

I really appreciate your concern about my country and poor people who goes through a lot of hardships and being killed by those extremists and killers.
I am lucky that we came longtime back but seeing these horrible situations in TV, make me to *throughout. Now since there is no one to help, the country is going 100 years backward."
* clearly typo or English as 2nd language.
I suspect Engel knows this and is quite invested in the people more than the war. I can understand it. He should not have been there this long. Faulty perspective.

(86,332 posts)He hasn't been much of anywhere else but London for the better part of the last few years. He did a few specials on the pandemic at the beginning but he's been milking Afghanistan for a long time. I bet he'll stay there until he gets threatened.

(9,958 posts)He seems to run hot or cold. Ive generally appreciated his reportsuntil recently. I think he has lost his objectivity, probably because he has spent so much time among Afghans and has made friends among them.

(86,332 posts)The addiction to war. I used to like him too but not in the last month.
I know a retired war correspondent who would still go over there if his body would allow it. He has some incredible stories and insight but he's addicted to the mayhem and adrenaline. He chews nicotine gum all day long, he used to smoke that Turkish tobacco over there and what they sell here is crap in comparison. But his lust for witnessing the wars is still his passion, he has his walls lined with photos of Afghans and Azeris and Albanians and war scenes. I helped him edit a book a few years ago, the photo library was incredible and gruesome. But I digress.
I have seen this addiction in advanced stages and it's sad. Engel should not have an outlet for dangerous accusations and innuendo, that's not his job.
