Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHas Andrea Mitchell always been like this?
I'm watching her on Maddow's show, and it's painful: she babbles, runs on, goes off on tangents, keeps repeating RW talking points - it's almost stream-of-consciousness. Why is she getting paid for this?

(11,088 posts)She's always been a right-winger but I think she's past her sell-by date.

(83,654 posts)I don't watch Rachel. I know many adore her yet have no clue why RM is giving her air time.

(1,096 posts)I walked away when she came on the show, so I don't know if Rachel gave any indication regarding the point of the interview.
tishaLA
(14,176 posts)and when (at least) one of Ms Maddow's books came out, one of her first appearances was on Ms Mitchell's program. I remember reading about how much Ms Maddow appreciates what Ms Mitchell has done for women in journalism and that she's mentored and championed the careers of so many.
I doubt Ms Maddow's politics align perfectly with Ms Mitchell's, but I tend to trust her judgment about character.

(9,998 posts)They always mention her "title," and did again at end of tonight's interview.
I don't know if Rachel actually likes her, or does not have any say in the matter since Andrea has more tenure at MSNBC, so she can go on as a guest when she wants.
tishaLA
(14,176 posts)of course she gets to approve of the guests she has on her show LOL. She didn't just sign an eight figure/year contract so she'd have no say in her own show.

(83,654 posts)Personally I think Mitchell is a RW ass.
If you don't mind me asking, what is up with all the Ms stuff?
tishaLA
(14,176 posts)and I was raised to refer to people with whom I'm not familiar as Mr and Ms (or Rep. or Sen., etc. It's why I try to refer to Pres. Biden as Pres. Biden rather than "Joe" or "Biden," Pres. Obama as Pres. Obama rather than "Obama," Sec. Clinton as Sec Clinton rather than "Hillary" or "Clinton," and on and on)
BTW, at no point did I say Ms Mitchell isn't an ass; I merely said that Ms Maddow has expressed respect for her and what she's done for women journalists (whatever her politics might or might not be).

Must have missed it, and glad I did.
Andrea oh but her emails Mitchell.
If I were running MSNBC, Id take her off the air before I even moved into my office.
Chuck Todd would be next. My husband calls him Fuck Turd. My husband has always been a good judge of character.

(40,190 posts)She was a floor reporter at the 1968 Democratic Convention when all hell broke loose. She was 21 years old.
It isnt her politics or perceived politics, its just time for her to retire.
Mary in S. Carolina
(1,364 posts)I guess I don't know much about her, but I don't think she is very good - she comes across as bitter and condescending. It looks like she does not want to there (doing her job), with all her money she just needs to retire.
FakeNoose
(32,579 posts)... and Brockaw is already retired, at least 5 years. Mitchell should follow his lead and retire also. It's not like she needs the money.

(86,323 posts)To spew her shit. She's all freaked out because her supposed endless cash cow, the war, is dead and she had hopes, until this afternoon's announcement, that she could help pressure Biden into changing his mind or destroy him.

(86,323 posts)It appears that Lawrence had a headzup that she was on and seemed to devote much of the next hour debunking any rationale for continuing the war. And he did a good job, well worth watching his show tonight.
I think Rachel may have been faced with either her or fucking Richard Engel and she went with Andrea knowing she could manage the conversation with her.

(1,164 posts)MCI is mild cognitive impairment (I ran out of room in the title).
This is only my own interpretation, obviously.
I rarely agree with her, but I found her performance tonight to be worthy of compassion. She was struggling for words, losing her train of thought, etc. At one point, as I recall, she actually laughed a little at her verbal struggles.
I hope for her sake that she's just sleep deprived.

(33,244 posts)Mitchell has seen it all, for 50 years. You'd think she'd have pearls of wisdom, but she really has no insight.
This was a historic moment; I assume Maddow's 1st guest couldn't make it.
