Army General Chris Donahue was the last soldier to leave Afghanistan

Maj. Gen. Chris Donahue, commander of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, was the last soldier to leave Afghanistan, officials said Monday.

U.S. Central Command released a picture of Donahue, 52, preparing to board the final military C-17 cargo plane to leave Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie, the head of Central Command, told reporters in a virtual briefing that with the departure of the C-17 at 3:29 p.m. ET, "every single U.S. service member is now out of Afghanistan."

I’ve known a few with that surname. One was not amused by my joking insinuation that his ancestors couldn’t spell ‘Donahue.’

That this war is finally over!!! 20 years was about 19 years too long.

I thought we absolutely were justified in going in to get Al Qaeda, but I think it was botched from the start as we went in too light and let Bin Laden and Al Qaeda escape to the mountains and to Pakistan. We should have first sealed off their escape route with a massive force and then eliminated them at once. But Bush was building up for invading Iraq so he went in with 15,000 troops instead of the 100,000 some generals asked for. Once we botched it then we had no business remaining for so long. Obama should have gotten us out. Trump promised to get us out and didn't. Biden delivered.
