Last week, the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol sent requests to 15 social media companies, the National Archives and Records Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Justice asking for information pertaining to the insurrection.
In the requests, the committee named a number of GOP-affiliated individuals who demonstrated ties to the Capitol Riot, according to OpenSecrets.
One of these individuals, Caroline Wren, who received "at least" $170,000 as the Trump campaign's national finance consultant, was listed as a "VIP Advisor" on the permit granted by the National Park Service for the January 6 rally.

(32,599 posts)He lost the election, the campaign should have disbanded already. Chump wasn't a declared candidate for anything, yet he was collecting donations and incurring expenses. There are so many questions!

(47,285 posts)Always campaigning, soliciting donations, and incurring expenses even when there is no relevant election. You'd think that is violating some campaign finance laws. If not, maybe the laws need to be changed.

(24,253 posts)him filing papers for a 2024 campaign immediately after the election. He did the same immediately after he was inaugurated in 2016, filing for the 2020 campaign. This allows him to collect and spend donations. It would be ludicrous, however, to think all of his expenditures are legal. If you ask me, these "campaign" donations are the only real income he has. Everything else he does is losing money.

(47,285 posts)Trump finally found a relatively low risk cash cow - campaign donations. It is not like real estate or branded merchandise. He has nothing tangible to worry about and the only expense is fundraising and a few rallies. Of course Trump can't do anything without breaking laws, it is in his nature. We'll see how long he can sustain this latest scam.

(2,252 posts)This is extra damning in that we know the campaign usually stiffs all who aren't immediate family and hangers on.

(14,525 posts)As the stories about the January 6th DC insurrection keep coming out, and the public keeps inquiring about the people who may have orchestrated the event, the name Caroline Wren, a Trump insider and fundraiser, keeps popping up. Caroline Wren apparently played a very significant role in organizing Trumps January 6th rally, which ultimately led to the infamous insurrection at the Capitol building. Like many political operatives in Washington, Wren maintains a low public profile, and is therefore relatively unknown to people outside Washington, DC. Politico however featured her birthday in October 2018, proving without a doubt, that she is a mover and shaker in DC political circles.
Theres also an interesting tidbit from this Twitter handle The Warning Bell, which shows Caroline Wrens close ties to Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and defense contractors. Senator Graham as you know, is a very close ally of former President Trump. As a matter of fact, a plausible argument can be made that it was Senator Graham, together with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), who gave birth to the stop the steal movement, given the way they egged Trump on to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election immediately after it became apparent that Trump was headed for defeat.

(70,449 posts)Publicly invited those thugs to the violent riot whose purpose was to over throw our Constitutional democracy.
He gave the day, the date, the time, and the place for the violence in his invites.
He asked the Sec. of State of Georgia to find 11,780 votes because big things will be happening on 1/6/21 (they have it on tape)
He paid for the violence.
He gave a pep talk to the insurrectionists prior to their attack on the Capitol
He had the chief of staff of the White House, Nick Mulvany, niece fill out the paperwork for the permit for his 1/6/21 pep talk prior to the riot
He decapitated the D.C. National Guard so they could not respond to his thugs violence @ the US Capitol
He refused on multiple times to call off his thugs on 1/6/21
.. Kevin McCarthy & Mike Pence both asked for Trump to call off his thugs and he refused
He let the rioters walk away from their crimes and told them that he loved them and he was proud of them.
