The US lost the most credibility during the Slobfather's four year reign of terror. The climax of his abysmal failure was his failed coup.
During and since the failed coup, people at home and abroad saw the truth about ReTHUGs - they don't give a fuck about anything except white rule, male dominance and total and complete power. Elections do not matter so clearly democracy is not on their agenda.
Thank you Joe Biden - spend the war money on your needy citizens for education, healthcare and infrastructure.
Now let's go Select Committee - lock them all up!
That is all

(42,770 posts)Millions, trillions spent over the years. Yes. But I was corrected the other day and I haven't looked it up. Supposedly we have been supporting only a small contingency of US troops/personnel. But have been spending money "propping" up their government paying for something? Have you seen any numbers on how much we've been spending and on what?

But try to use that kind of money to help the poor, needy, sick, homeless - those Jesus referred to as "the least of these" - and you'd almost get your head handed to you (by some of these self-proclaimed "Christians" ).

(21,146 posts)to Afghan war lords to buy loyalty from them and to private contractors (American mercenaries) more than to regular troops on the ground. Never trust a hired private army which has no place in a democracy, since it does not answer to civilian oversight.

(991 posts)a couple days ago, but, it went something like this
.one guy in Afghanistan that worked for the government and a go between with Americans would allocate money for building infrastructure, like bridges, etc, and his brother, a taliban, would blow up the bridge. Then the Afghan government worker would get the money relocated again to rebuild the bridge and once again the taliban brother blows it up
and over and over it went. They had a thing goin. They had so much war money they didnt know what to do with it all. Spend spend spend, no oversight
..My best guess as to where I watched this video would be NPR. Because it was around the same time I watched an interview on NPR with Clarissa Ward, from a link I saw here on DU.

(22,644 posts)They'd planned the whole thing out, had congressmen and women on the inside providing live intel, told the national guard to stand down that day and if he wasn't such a coward, he should have actually lead the charge into battle with his mob of ignants and dipshits he incited.
For someone who intrinsically knows more than the generals and is a self proclaimed genius who knows better than everyone else about everything, in the end, he couldn't even pull off a simple little congressional storming with almost no defensive forces. He's a pathetic loser!

(99,912 posts)We had a Black Lives Matter demonstration where I live, the MAGAs got there first and started harassing the BLM people until they left, and a car wound up driving into the crowd.
And not even a few weeks later, there was a Trump truck parade and guess where they were going? On their way to Temecula to block people from voting.
These people are truly vile, rotten scumbags.

(267,799 posts)the Covid deaths, the deal with the Taliban and his attempt to overthrow the elected President and kill everyone in the way. I put the failed coup at the top because he had already lost the election and refused to concede. There is nothing more anti-democratic than that. Bush killed more people in Iraq that were killed in the US with the SLobfather's Covid lies.

(21,856 posts)making it all about him, moaning and complaining about everything under the Sun, and all of the harm he has suffered and hatred he's suffered (Rand Paul)...maybe, just possibly maybe a break via rump's donors...they're getting tired of donating and seeing their money be 'wasted' on these scream fests of trump (the rallies) and want to see the money used better. A good article was out this a.m.,
'They have better things to do' Major Republican donors are staying away from Trump APPEARED ON CNBC this a.m.:
...
Donors are also concerned about how Trump's organization is spending the piles of money it has raised from smaller donations.
"Big money, sophisticated people are just losing interest in this s--- show," said an advisor to longtime Trump allies in Silicon Valley. Many donors are tired of seeing the former president use his resources on rallies during which he often makes false claims including that the election was stolen from him, this person said.
...
Every positive bit of news to get/nail this scumbag is always good news to me. Surely the American voter, the American taxpayer, can see the world of difference between rump's former trashy administration and Pres. Biden's admin. - literally a world of difference, no comparison other than pure competence on Pres. Biden's part.
Oh, and by the way, I love the word you used...pellucidly

(14,153 posts)This is scary. And more of the press should call them out on this. Too many liberals, blacks and other minorities, women, new immigrants, and gay people vote for their liking. They see its getting harder and harder for white christian bigots to win fair and square in a democracy.
Their ultimate goal is to demonize the word "democracy" like they did with "liberal". Its not quite possible yet. And they're still going to see if they can gerrymander and shut down voting enough to win and continue to give lip service to the word. But as soon as any tide starts to turn, DESPITE their machinations, in places like Texas, you will see that democracy itself will be questioned. First on conspiracy sites, RW radio, then AON and NewsMax, then bleeding onto Fox. Where the angle will perhaps be that we can't trust the system we have because of massive secret invisible fraud. That democracy is now unfortunately impossible. And that the only solution is an authoritarian regime who will bring law and order. And then maybe.....maybe....one day when everything is sorted out, we can go back to democracy.

(2,559 posts)the Biden presidency just when it is time for the reconciliation budget, raise the debt ceiling, voting rights and of course that infrastructure legislation.
The media serves the billionaires and they want all this repair to democracy and reconciliation eliminated from any government agenda.
They fully support, starving the peasants and linking up with Putin style governance.
They are more concerned with Afghanistan than Louisiana - so odd.
