They don't have a problem with Biden getting out of Afghanistan so much....
...as the way that he did it. That seems to be their criticism?
A few argue that we should have stayed longer. Some argue that it was going great just the way it was, with just 2500 troops. But, was it?
Not really. The Taliban was in the process of capturing every province in the country at almost lightning speed. And America was stuck with only 2500 troops.
The Afghan Army up and quit and their President fled the country. The Taliban stormed Kabul. Our country was presented with a dilemma. What could we do? Our 2500 troops were surrounded by the enemy. They needed support quickly. Biden sent in additional troops. It was a tense situation.
The problem was not just how to get out the Afghans who helped us, but how to withdraw the American troops? It was not a question of just flying out.
But my question is, how could anyone have done it better under the circumstances? Biden could be criticized for not withdrawing the troops sooner, I suppose? But not for the job that he did, in my opinion.
