1. So if I'm already boycotting companies related to the Koch brothers

and I also boycott Kimberly-Clark, then what am I supposed to do for toilet paper?

I also have dealt extensively with the Social Security Administration in Bryan within the past year since my foot was amputated and I anticipate having to conduct additional business with them to maximize my disability check. I don't think that they issue any stock though so you won't have to liquidate your holdings there.

Since both Southwest Airlines and American Airlines are on the list I guess that means that I won't be flying anywhere, especially from DFW airport. It seems like you might want to keep them in your portfolio if they haven't recovered to the pre-pandemic stock price since the travel industry will eventually recover at some point.

I also have dealt with Baylor Scott & White and UT Southwestern Medical Center in the past. I certainly wouldn't pass up either of them if I had a medical emergency. They are both non-profits anyway so they probably aren't in your portfolio.

I don't see much point in either boycotting or divesting in any company beyond the satisfaction that it might "feel good" briefly time. While we are frustrated by the events of today, making major financial decisions probably isn't a good idea when the emotions are at a zenith.

Companies like Pier 1 Imports and JC Penney are already floundering and have closed many stores.

3. We have to start somewhere. If people apply enough financial pressure companies will move their

Headquarters elsewhere. This country has gone too far down the rabbit hole of fascism as it is. Money talks. Boycott Texas based companies, and companies start leaving Texas, maybe we will make headway with politicians who are hell bent on destroying democracy here in America. If you have any better ideas I'm all ears.

5. Divesting stocks doesn't do much. The company made its money

when it issued the shares. Now if you sell, it’s just to another investor. Company gets nothing. Any damage to the company would be minimal and speculative at best. Better, I think, to avoid their products as much as possible. I too, am still avoiding Koch companies’ products.

6. Not only divest, I'm going to change my phone plan,

stop shopping from stores, stop using products from Texas based companies. Maybe other states will think twice about following Texas, if enough damage is done to Texas financially. Clearly this will only work if millions of people decide to take a stand against Texas, but I'd like to think that today is the tipping point that rounds up the masses to do what they can to save our democracy from the claws of these deranged demagogues. Time will tell.

LOT of collateral damage here, as there will be with the law itself. I spend a lot of money with a photography lab in Austin. I don't know their personal politics. Being in Austin there is a 50/50 chance they are liberal.
