Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsYesterday my live-in son and I went and got our regular yearly flu vaccinations.
Our side-effects were minimal, a little feeling of stiffness at the injection sites and a
feeling of tiredness today. A little arm/shoulder flexing and some relaxation today pretty much took care of it all.
That's not bad, and about what we experienced when we got our covid vaccines
earlier this year. I support and recommend vaccines.

before the end of the day.

(64,885 posts)In another thread about me turning 65, Skittles replied that I was eligible for the COVID booster.
That made me realize that I forgot to go to CVS for a flu shot!
So, I went today!
Thanks, Skittles!
I seldom have a reaction to the flu shot, & I've gotten one every year for the last 20.
My company used to bring in a nurse to do flu shots right there at work. In all 20 locations around the world.
It's good business. Lost productivity is way more expensive than a couple thousand vaccines.

I guess I have been fortunate with the COVID-19 and flu shots; I have not felt any symptoms other than a bit of soreness in my arm which disappeared the next day. I am looking forward to when they authorize boosters for my spouse and I.
Many thanks and a hat tip to all in the DU community who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

(34,095 posts)and am waiting for the Covid vaccine as well as I have a new heart condition and would like to get it before they start sticking wires in my heart. Jeeze. How did I get this old to need all of that? Anyway, trying to work everything out. I too believe in vaccines. They have saved us from so much sickness and unnecessary death. Awaiting the vaccine against abject stupidity. Sadly I thing that is a sickness we will have to live with.

(14,118 posts)anti-vaxxers that this is a problem that is taking care of itself. I wish I understood why
people are so stupid that they wish for and seek out death but those of us who
survive will be the winners. I wish you the best outcome.

(34,095 posts)A bit scary, especially since my docs all say it is urgent but there are no appointments or times for going on 4 months now with another month and a half to get my next doc who will actually do the thing. I suppose it has something to do with Covid, I certainly hope this is not usual for "urgent" heart problems. Anyway, it seems that they, those who refuse to be vaccinated, are committed to taking this risk to own us and not seeing that the outcome will not be them owning anything but a marker and a place in a plot. That makes me feel so creeped out.

(11,949 posts)My wife and I are just lucky, I guess. Never had a negative reaction to any vaccine except a slightly sore arm after Covid. And a more sore arm after tetanus which I get every 5 years because I fish and always getting nasty cuts. My wife did not even have reactions to the Shingles vaccine. Ive yet to get it but will at my physical in October.

(11,605 posts)My arm was really sore for a day and a half but otherwise no side effects, which was a relief, because I have had minor side effects a couple times in the past from flu shots. Never anything major, just feeling rundown and a little off the next day. But this year that didn't happen - just a sore arm.
