TN governor says open carry law, Kroger shooting are 'separate issues'

On Friday, Governor Bill Lee made his first public appearance since the mass shooting in a Collierville, TN Kroger where a gunman shot 15 people.

“It’s tragic. Our hearts go out to, and our prayers go out to, the victims and the families,” said Lee.

The Tennessee governor also addressed questions on whether the state’s open-carry law played a factor in what Collierville officials have called the “most horrific event” in the town’s history.

“[The] constitutional carry bill applies to law-abiding citizens,” said Lee. “What happened yesterday was criminal activity, violent criminal gun activity, and those are separate issues.”

2. And how do you know when a law-abiding citizen is going to suddenly stop abiding by the law?

Got some kind of secret magical power you'd like to share with the rest us, Governor? Because it sure as shit wasn't working yesterday.

3. Dear Gov, until the trigger was pulled, that open carrying gunner was law abiding

“What happened yesterday was criminal activity, violent criminal gun activity, and those are separate issues.”

How are we shoppers to know which one of the legal carriers is soon to be a violent criminal with a legal carry gun?
Perhaps all shoppers need to stay home; Kroger can too.

It is a choice, hunger or blown-out-brains.

Snark, sarcasm, anger! I know no longer.

5. We focus way, way too much on the deaths and mass shootings. They're a drop in the bucket.

For every maniac "active shooter" there are hundreds if not thousands of broken unit, child-men who want to walk around your local grocery store with an AR-15 slung over their shoulder. You're having a nice day at the town carnival and suddenly you see some poor, lost incel walking around, proud as can be, with their movie merchandise on full display. Now you and your family and friends are forced to feel both repugnance and threat when you just wanted to have some fun.

We should focus more on that sort of thing. The open carry nitwits ruin people's fun. They are buzzkills. Sure, a few of them kill people, but for far too many people, that's an accepted fact baked into the cake. Mess up people's own personal good time, though? Nope, that won't sit well with them. Enough of that and they'd flat out repeal the second amendment.
