How many editorials and articles have we seen about the price tag for the reconciliation bill being far too high? Never mind we spend over twice that amount on the military and no one is questioning its exorbitantly high price tag. Funny how that works.

(2,868 posts)The reconciliation legislation is PAID FOR.
Instead of saying the reconciliation bill will cost $3.5 Trillion, it should be the reconciliation bill will cost $0.00.

(24,407 posts)Most people have been propagandized to believe that any reduction in military spending makes us "weak" and inviting of our destruction. How many times have Democrats tried to cut military spending only to have Republicans get all worked up.

Not rational either when people are always stoked up on fear and "American Exceptionalism"

(31,986 posts)How many times have Democratic leaders tried to cut military spending? I am not aware of any.

(24,407 posts)We didn't have any sustained military conflicts under him either. Not that it was really true, but remember how W. Bush's 2000 campaign claimed that Clinton had "gutted" the military. Iraq ended under Obama. I don't remember either of them advocating for huge increases in the military budget either. But maybe I'm misremembering. I'll also add that worship of the military and propaganda about military spending also affects Democrats too.

(31,986 posts)On Iraq, we are still there. Obama tried to pull out and then put troops back in. The Iraq government has ordered us out and so we are supposed to be out by December 31 of this year. Hopefully we will be.

As with so many things in life, its all about the money.

It's definitely the accountability thing also, emboldened by the tax-free status.

I was looking for that word just the other day and it escaped me! Aristocracy. Indeed.
