Altered DNA ...?

Some claim the vaccine alters your DNA, I want to know how it does this? I thought you got half from your mother and half from your father when the sperm met the egg. I also thought it was pretty much set in stone when you were born. Now that I have been jabbed I want to know what to expect. Will my skin get darker? Will my hair start to curl? maybe I can have blue eyes? What are they afraid of???

confuse DNA with mRNA. The former code your genetic makeup while the later ( messenger RNA) is responsible to carry out instructions to cells.
It is actually possible to alter DNA via a technique called gene editing. It's actually being considered for curing certain types of cancers but it's far from being ready. It has been used for years in the agricultural industry to create crops that are disease resistant.

When we develop an immune response, the mRNA is modified to be able to produce the appropriate antibodies.

Vaccines based on viruses or viral remnants provoke the immune response, and the mRNA develops the ability to produce the appropriate antibodies.

mRNA vaccines work a little differently. They alter the mRNA directly in order to be able to produce the spike protein of the COVID virus. The body them produces the antibodies as it recognizes the protein as foreign.

SNPs are Copying Errors
To make new cells, an existing cell divides in two. But first it copies its DNA so the new cells will each have a complete set of genetic instructions. Cells sometimes make mistakes during the copying process - kind of like typos. These typos lead to variations in the DNA sequence at particular locations, called single nucleotide polymorphisms, or SNPs (pronounced "snips&quot .

Some SNPs make those impacted with susceptibility to certain diseases. Like oncogenes that can be turned on or off dependent on internal/external environment, lifestyle, etc.

https://medlineplus.gov/genetics/understanding/genomicresearch/snp/

"Single nucleotide polymorphisms, frequently called SNPs (pronounced “snips”), are the most common type of genetic variation among people. Each SNP represents a difference in a single DNA building block, called a nucleotide. For example, a SNP may replace the nucleotide cytosine (C) with the nucleotide thymine (T) in a certain stretch of DNA.

SNPs occur normally throughout a person’s DNA. They occur almost once in every 1,000 nucleotides on average, which means there are roughly 4 to 5 million SNPs in a person's genome. These variations may be unique or occur in many individuals; scientists have found more than 100 million SNPs in populations around the world. Most commonly, these variations are found in the DNA between genes. They can act as biological markers, helping scientists locate genes that are associated with disease. When SNPs occur within a gene or in a regulatory region near a gene, they may play a more direct role in disease by affecting the gene’s function.

Most SNPs have no effect on health or development. Some of these genetic differences, however, have proven to be very important in the study of human health. Researchers have found SNPs that may help predict an individual’s response to certain drugs, susceptibility to environmental factors such as toxins, and risk of developing particular diseases. SNPs can also be used to track the inheritance of disease genes within families. Future studies will work to identify SNPs associated with complex diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer."

have something to do with these changes in genetic codes that effect body metabolisms and functions of the immune system...when you begin noticing the similarities in ethnicity, obesity, the standard American diet, DM-II, possible long-term exposure to environmental toxicities in adults that have effects in the cardiovascular system, etc... What's interesting is NASH is showing up more often in children as well as a syndrome of long-CoVid. Of course, good and bad research and hunches continue; some is just plain wrong. Snake oil salesmen in it for the money isn't a new thing. We've hated the repercussions of this one: socially, economically, and so many deaths. One has to go with the best science available at the time - I believe we'll conquer this pandemic...the vaccines will help and give humans more time to research this novel bug, however and wherever it came from. Like climate change, you can bet mankind was involved in creating the conditions that assisted this little piece of viral MRNA to become so infectious and contagious. Wouldn't it make more sense to be good stewards of health and climate. Every time a species goes extinct, there's a little SNP in Mother Nature's food chain.

The microbiome contains both good and bad flora; a single-cell layer keeps waste products within the passageway. This cell-layer is easily breached into areas of the body in which it's not supposed to be present, increasing a chronic state of internal inflammation/pH problems that often have no previous symptoms that elicit complaints. Neither do regular bloodwork and simple interpretation of CBCs, BUNs, and fasting glucose numbers except being out-of-range...so another pill is just added for that particular sign while a pathway with multiple changes remain undetected, yet the body is overwhelmed removing toxins and unbalanced excesses until there's a disease physician's can name.

DNA is not as immutable as you believe it to be.

Often wild theories have a grain of truth - and when you ridicule the entire wild theory, including the grain of truth, it undercuts the claim that our side believes in science and theirs rejects it.

My comment was a direct response to an assertion ridiculing the idea that DNA can change post birth.

I also thought it was pretty much set in stone when you were born.

A response that the vaccine cannot change DNA, because explanaton here is an appropriate response that demonstrates respect for science.

A response that DNA doesn't change once you are born ignores the science, albeit in a different way than those claiming he vaccine changes it ignores the science, but it ignores the science nonetheless. And that doesn't help our case.

18. Covid-19 Vaccines Can't Alter Your DNA, Here's Why
Sun Oct 3, 2021, 06:17 PM
Oct 2021
https://www.forbes.com/sites/victoriaforster/2021/01/11/covid-19-vaccines-cant-alter-your-dna-heres-why/

As millions of people around the world are given vaccines against Covid-19, some people are still reluctant to get the shot. There are several common reasons for this ranging from some which are more reasonable to the downright absurd (think 5G and microchips). One of the most popular circulating mistruths at the moment is that mRNA vaccines will alter your DNA, with pseudoscientific content flooding social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The good news is that they simply can’t do this, which will come as a disappointment to some who were hoping that this might be their chance for superpowers, but where did this belief in DNA-changing vaccines come from? “I think people are concerned that because this is genetic material injected into the body, could it somehow mix in with your own genetic material and change it,” said Sara Riordan, President of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.

But there are crucial differences between DNA which carries all of the information we inherited from our parents and mRNA, which the Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines are made of. DNA is double-stranded, very very long and bundled up tightly together inside a part of the cell called the nucleus. mRNA is a single-stranded copy of a small part of DNA, which is routinely made in the nucleus, but then released into the main part of the cell so that the instructions it carries can be ‘read’ and made into a variety of proteins needed by the cell. “mRNA is naturally made by the body, it encodes instructions for your body's cells to make protein. Any mRNA vaccine has the same purpose, to teach and train your body to make an immune response toward a particular pathogen, so if the pathogen gets into your body, your immune system can attack it,” said Riordan.

In the case of mRNA vaccines against Covid-19, these are not made in the nucleus, rather they are injected into the arm to tell muscle cells how to make part of the viral “Spike” or “S” protein, a tiny part of the SARS-CoV2 coronavirus, which on its own has none of the negative effects of the virus itself. “What’s really reassuring about these mRNA vaccines, the mRNA never even goes into the nucleus, the part of the cell contains all of your own DNA and instructions,” Riordan added.

So how do they actually work?

mRNA-based vaccines are a bit like standing in your kitchen and thinking what to make for dinner. You know you’ve got all of the ingredients to make a meal, but you don’t exactly know how to make it. So you download a recipe online, put everything together using ingredients and equipment you already have in your kitchen and eat your dinner. The vaccines are simply the recipe, injecting it into your arm is simply giving specific information to your cells and letting them read it. Your cells expertly assemble the tiny part of the Spike protein from ingredients and equipment which they already have. After this, the immune system quickly goes after the spike protein fragment, learning to build up a defense against the coronavirus, should it ever encounter it. But we don’t normally have mRNA encoding Spike protein floating around in our cells, so what happens to the mRNA itself after its injected into you and your cells make the bit of spike protein that tips off your immune system? “The mRNA from the vaccine is destroyed by the cell after the instructions are read,“ said Riordan.

Because no, this vaccine doesn't alter your DNA, but some viruses most certainly do.

Endogenous retroviruses account for 5-8% of the human genome. In fact, common viral elements shared between species of ape can be used to demonstrate the evolutionary history of our species.
