Hubby has had this weird sensation where food just smells horrible. He says certain foods just turn his stomach and sometimes he smells that in the air and the dog and the trash.
HE has been working from home since March 2019
I don't feel it is covid.
We are both vaxxed and I Have had the booster. Neither of us have been sick besides my crohn's bs.
Then he looked up some things and of course, internet will have one thinking all sorts of things like tumors and the like.
He has a physical next week and is going to ask the doc if he has the antibodies but neither of us have been sick.
????
I think he is just too jumpy

(31,997 posts)he is susceptible to tumors due to his skin pigmentation. He had a huge cyst taken out last year on his shoulder. He has one on his back that I think needs removed now and a couple on his arms.
I will mention to him to check all of the suspicious spots.

(11,908 posts)Hubby and I have been working from home since 3/19 (kids have worked outside the home). We all mask. The hospital tested me 2x last week for COVID because of other symptoms I was having, so I would think it is possible, or I don't think they would have done that. That being said, it probably isn't covid. They tested me because in the midst of a sepsis infection, I went from having congestion to having a cough. Both tests came back negative and lungs were clear. It can be something as small as a sinus infection or allergies that can throw your sense of smell off. Doesn't hurt to be careful and mention it thought.
Hoping for the best!

(28,075 posts)Last January I thought I had a cold and if I had not suddenly realized I couldn't taste or smell (after feeling lousy for a couple days) I would never have bothered to get tested.
Fortunately I was working from home & hadn't been out at all (and was always masked if I went to store) so I didn't spread it around.

(23,521 posts)But, we can get it.
In fact lots of unvaccinated people get covid with minimal symptoms. They just are more likely than the vaxxed to have severe symptoms.

(2,382 posts)2- Possibility he has phantosmia, which is olfactory hallucinations.. I had it 2020 for 4 months, I imagined smells so bad in my home I could not even go inside. Lived in motels for 4 months and after the 'smell' started in my car, I had to get rentals cars for almost the entire time...
Many, many things can cause phantosmia. Docs basically know nothing..'
Or it could be something else all together...
just a suggestion...

(9,533 posts)Some were vaxxed as I recall. It isn't just loss of smell/taste, some say everything smells like garbage.
He should get the antibody test to see if he's had it but also consult doctor as other conditions can cause loss or smell or taste.

(25,839 posts)From the very beginning it's been possible to have Covid and not know, or at least not be fully sure.
My sister, who was fully vaccinated a while back, had a recent brief loss of her sense of smell. I don't think she bothered to get tested, mainly because having been vaccinated she felt pretty safe, but certainly that one symptom is important.
I've known of various other similar stories, before and after vaccinations.
It seems as if Covid is very different from normal infections of any kind, and is totally fucking with us.
In any case, do have the doctor test for antibodies AND current infection. Whatever you learn will be useful.

(25,202 posts)I've heard that with Covid you lose your sense of smell and taste
Almost sounds like pregnancy, but obviously it's not.
