4. I learned the other day schools in my area give snacks, as well as breakfast and lunch . . .

I'd known about breakfast and lunch, had even stopped and spoke with a couple who were helping distribute it during the summer months when school was out. Very nice. Definitely a worthy program. That they give snacks, too, during the school year was new to me. And just as agreeable as the other food they distribute.

Hard to begrudge children something I sorely missed growing up. Would have made school a lot easier had my tummy been less restless and my head a little clearer.

Takes a special sort of heartless harpy to feign outrage at children being fed.

If you give a child a meal, they eat for a day.
And learn more because they aren't hungry or worried.

Rightwankers hate that.

But if you teach a child to dumpster dive--remember when Rush Limbaugh LOL'd about that?--they remain hungry, frightened, and ultimately distracted from any thoughts of bettering themselves, or rising up, or demanding equity, or any of that as they fight each other for scraps.

Rightwankers love that. They all "love" the poorly-educated, and they work to make everyone so.
