Can I share something that I think helped advance our tribal environment?

Have you ever heard the phrase, "People like doing business with people they like." If you have an innocent mind you would think that it means that customers feel confident with a salesman who knows his stuff and can display competence. Also, humility works, because nothing turns people off more than arrogance.

That is the standard for a salesperson. But that isn't how the term really applied. What it really meant was more in the good ole boy way. On a local level, the good buddies are not trusting of people they don't know. Some of it is understandable. No one likes to sign a contract for thousands of dollars with someone that might be transient and leave the State or company by the end of the year. But, in this environment where everything comes down to diverting resources to people who support your political and religious views, it means something far more nefarious.

I can see how this happens in private companies and how a manager might wittingly or unwittingly select employees that fit a mold, but it really has no place in companies that deal with government contracts. I'm sure it happens anyway.

Sometimes it is a relatively harmless bump. Sometimes, not

I don't care about anything else once they self-identify as an anti-rational actor. Let someone else bring that headache into their organization, but call me crazy, more than whether or not I know someone, the simple ability to reliably show up and actually work is more important to me than their other picadilloes and quirks.

When someone tells me that they won't wear a mask, what they are actually telling me is "I am too special to think of common sense regulations to serve a wider group than my own reflection"...

Thanks for applying, we'll have someone let you know in a few days... (As I throw that application and resume into the circular file...)

Like "Chinatowns" in every major city?

Or "Little Italy's" in every major city?

Etc, etc, etc...

Yes, humans like to deal with people who are like them...is this a surprise?
