Head coach Urban Meyer has apologized to his family and team.
Head coach Urban Meyer has apologized to his family and team.
(CNN)Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan has criticized but ultimately stood by Urban Meyer after lewd videos of the NFL team's head coach were shared widely online.

Footage of Meyer sitting on a stool at a bar in Columbus, Ohio, as a woman danced close to his lap went viral at the weekend before another clip emerged of the married 57-year-old appearing to touch the women's bottom on the same night.
"I have addressed this matter with Urban. Specifics of our conversation will be held in confidence," Khan said in a statement.
"What I will say is his conduct last weekend was inexcusable. I appreciate Urban's remorse, which I believe is sincere. Now, he must regain our trust and respect.

If this is what he does in public with cameras on him, I hate to think what he does when he thinks no one is looking.
Fine example for the college kids he coached.

Given how important OSU football is in central Ohio, it was quite a BFD. Made it to lots of local talk shows, OSU admin were also aware about the incoming doctor groping athletes charges.

source-https://news.wosu.org/show/all-sides-with-ann-fisher/2018-08-02/urban-meyers-future-at-ohio-state

snip-OSU officials made the decision yesterday, announcing they’re investigating Courtney Smith's claims that several people close to Meyer knew of a 2015 domestic violence allegation against her ex-husband, former OSU assistant football coach Zach Smith, who was fired last week.

Meyer’s signed a contract extension in April that had language requiring him to report staff violations of OSU’s sexual misconduct policy.
More there.

The DV was in 2015, Meyer violated his contract in 2018 by covering for the dude

I personally know some folks indirectly associated with the domestic violence issue you reference, and yes I know that was the stated reason for his departure.
And certainly the way he and his family handled it was a grave error of judgement.

I just felt at the the time there were some other things going on and now I may have my answer.

It wasn't an unwanted grope. I don't know what the woman thought or felt, but she doesn't seem to mind.

This is a private family matter.

It is a marital matter, and this should have Zero bearing on his occupation. It's not like we can just start punishing every person in sports who engages in infidelity.

And this isn't even necessarily infidelity.

A crime, or act leading up to a crime, is different.

This is no business of ours. It wouldn’t be news before social media either.

I'm pretty sure his players weren't overly traumatized by the video. They will be fine.

Why are people outraged because this guy does something? His wife may not care or may have her own relationships, you never know. Probably doesn't appreciate it being all over the news either way though lol.

this occurred in-season, following a losing road game, and while the team was in the air flying home. Meyer stayed over for the party instead of returning with the team to start working to fix their 0-4 record.

Consider what the players think of that when they have curfews and bed checks while traveling.
