If you didn't catch him on Rachel just now, catch the repeat. It's definitely worth watching.

(8,033 posts)democrats support. Maybe the coal-miners' union? Idk.
That's Manchin. Same with Sinema. And no, I am not bashing Democrats. No matter what they may call themselves, DINOs are not Democrats, at least not as far as I'm concerned.
If anyone reading this wants to report me for Dem bashing, go right ahead. Come at me, bro. I don't even care if this post gets hidden, as long as at least a few people see it first.
I have HAD it with those two DINOs. Their refusal to support President Biden's agenda is making him and the rest of the Dems in Congress look bad, and it's hurting ALL Americans, whether or not they all know it.
That is all I will allow myself to say for now. 🙊

(6,078 posts)I want the Democratic party to embrace Democratic Socialism. I know I do and so do the youth of this great nation. Progress is the way forward.

(43,299 posts)reactionary 'Murica to use that false label of democratic socialism.
There are NO socialists in Congress. Bernie is not one. He and others are falsely self-labelling, and it is just so self-defeating.
Democratic socialism (and socialism in general) requires state appropriation of the means of production. Bernie has stated many times he does not believe in that. No one in Congress does.
All he and the other progs want is bog standard Nordic style social democracy.
I can assure you that we here in the Nordics are NOT socialist nations. In fact our capitalist sectors are more vibrant and robust on many levels (far higher productivity per hour worked for but one example) than the American one.
We just regulate capitalism to a far higher, far fairer level, to curb its natural excesses and bad tendencies, and to make it work synergistically with our expansive social welfare states to provide a higher standard of living and with FAR less wealth inequality than the US has. Welfare to us here means 'live well', welfare in 'Murica has some bizarre stigma attached to it as only for the poor and for so-called lazy.

(6,078 posts)Right now the middle class is dying. Too much power and money in the hands of a few. We're doomed if we let this continue.

(43,299 posts)Do you want the Rethugs to control the means of production?
We need an economic model that works for the benefit of the people. Corporations and the mega wealthy need to pay their fair share of taxes. We need to get money put of politics. Climate change is real and unless we force polluting Corporations to fix their shit, there won't even be a world to pass on to your family.

(43,299 posts)that are being exposed within the US Constitutionally-mandated system of federalism, make a lot of that admiral list of desired outcomes far less likely. The Rethugs have spent almost 6 decades (and especially the last 4) gaming the system, gaming it at local, county, state and national levels. Partisan gerrymandering (at state and national levels) alone is disastrous, as it forces us to run extremely moderate, cautious candidates, ones who are loathe to rock the boat, and loathe to piss the systemic centres of real power.
Now add in the Senate (by its very nature it allows a tyranny of minority rule), the Electoral College, a RW-captured federal court system, including SCOTUS, plus a virtually unlimited influence of corporate and the ultra-wealthy's monies to flow into and corrupt the system even more, and you have a superstructure in place that is the epitome of a hyper-complex, sophisticated, and incredibly effective blocking mechanism to your desired outcomes.

(50,261 posts)Manchin goes on an on about an "entitlement" society, but the real problem is that he seems to suffer from a narcissistic personality disorder and craves the camera. West Virginia needs all the assistance it can get at the moment, but Manchin prefers the spotlight.

(25,456 posts)Glad to see the change from: "The point I make over and over again... is the ideas I talk about are ideas that the American people want. They don't get it because you got a Congress indebted to wealthy campaign contributors." The Democratic Party isn't corrupt.
