2 things Dems should be talking more about.
1. The majority of people are getting vaccinated. 65.0% of the total US population has 1 shot and 56.0% are fully vaccinated. Right now, over 76% of those eligible for the vaccine have gotten at least 1 dose. So we're not talking 50-50 here, we're talking about 1 in 4 people who are vaccine hesitant/resistant. On the news they get all of the coverage, but they are a shrinking minority. This needs to be brought up more.
2. Trump destroyed the US economy. It's a fact that Trump had the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover. It's a fact he left the economy with the worst year for growth since just after WWII. Why don't Dems talk about Trump's and the Republican's atrocious economic record the last 4 years. If the shoe were on the other foot, it would be all Reps talked about. Trump sent us into a severe recession after he inherited a booming economy, doesn't matter that Covid had a lot to do with it, his response to Covid was so bad it destroyed the economy. And the economy was starting to falter before Covid even grabbed hold. Bury Trump and the GOP with these facts, start doing it now. Waiting until 2022 and 2024 is too late.
And point 2 needs to be expanded to talking about Biden's record breaking jobs and growth records so far. He's crushing it and no one is bragging about that enough.

(19,024 posts)If Dems aren't out there repeating these facts as their talking points, no one is going to.
If The roles were reversed, Reps and FOX News would be all but throwing a ticker tape parade for a Republican President by now. Dems are letting this narrative go to waste.

That IS the ballgame.
Shit! Weve been through this at least since reagan. It appears our side hasnt learned a damn thing.
STOP assuming the GOP will always just do the right thing!!!
STOP giving them the benefit of the doubt!!!

(32,620 posts)... and isn't it amazing that ANYONE thinks that Chump would have a chance of being re-elected?
It should be plainly obvious that Chump was a mistake from Day One. Repukes should be hiding in shame and pretending it never happened.

(19,024 posts)Because Dems aren't talking about it, Reps have seized the narrative, they're pushing that the trump economy was better than the Biden one, which is simply not true at all.
In 3 years, Trump is going to be running on "the greatest economy" in human history despite the fact he had a terrible economic record as President. These facts are in favor of Dems, they need to be pushing them right now.

(2,439 posts)I'm not defending the that ass by any means, but COVID did throw the economy for a bit of a loop. Most people wouldn't buy that talking point.... not saying the Republicans wouldn't push it if the shoe were on the other foot, but they are also preaching to a very uninformed constituent.

(19,024 posts)Obama's record was swayed by the dumpster fire he inherited, his jobs record suffered because he inherited and economy shedding 800,000 jobs a month.. His growth record was lower because of the mess he inherited. In the end, Obama's overall jobs and growth record is what he's judged on.
The economy wasn't humming along before Covid, we were averaging 2% growth a quarter, jobs growth was tepid at best. The UE rate was really low because it was low when Trump started.
Trump has to stand on his whole record, and that record is terrible economically.

(13,868 posts)than slamming Trump on his employment numbers, knowing that Covid overwhelms all other aspects of that time period, is to attack him for his huge increase in the debt.
Fiscal responsibility has always been the main mantra of the traditional GOP, and Trump, who touted himself as the King of Debt, carried that practice over to the government.
I think a big reason McConnell finally caved in the debt ceiling was that the fact that almost all of this new debt can be traced back to Trumps tax cut for billionaires.

Time for Truth.
Because when Fascism wins, Fascism jails media and all antifascists.
Media better look out for their survival interests, because for-profit bs only lasts so long.
It's time for media to save themselves, not just democracy.
Thanks so much for your post, Johnny2X2X!
