BREAKING: The Jan 6 Committee has subpoenaed ALI ALEXANDER and the Stop the Steal LLC.

Dave Weigel Retweeted

A reminder that Ali Alexander said in an online stream in July that at the time "several members of Congress and their chiefs of staff" had "asked if they could see" an "election integrity memo" he was releasing. https://mediamatters.org/january-6-insurrection/stop-steal-organizer-ali-alexander-says-several-members-congress-are-asking

There can be no arrest till he fails to show, doesn't matter what WE want rfn.

I believe the committee will indeed follow the law as written & arrest the no-shows.

I don't know the appearance date given on the subpoenas.

First you have to wait for the expiration of the subpoena.

Then you wait for congress to ask the DoJ to enforce the subpoena. No rush. Probably a few weeks go by as (shudder! the horror!) Congress issues increasingly stern letters before being so forward as to approach the DoJ about this.

Then the DoJ sits on that request for a while (can't imagine them ever moving faster then 2-3 months on something like this).

Then the court battles begin over whether and how the DoJ might eventually be allowed to actually do something. Give that at least two years.

By then, the people subpoenaed hope, and not without very good reason, a Republican House will drop the matter.

But if I had to put money down on the outcome, I'd take 10-to-1 odds that people like Bannon completely blow them off, and that at least six months, if not more, slide by before the slightest forceful effort to gain compliance happens.

Wake me up when someone supports an assertion with something other than logical fallacies such as yours.

and Trump can't protect him or probably even threaten him. The man isn't in politics, isn't going to run for Congress-- he's a loose cannon.

He and Bannon, actually-- neither could even claim to be employed by the admin or government at that point.

But Aly's been "in hiding" i think since Jan 6. Let's see if they can serve him.

(I'm remembering how long Ghislaine Maxwell managed to stay hidden, though they found her eventually.)

Ali Akbar got some 'splainin to do, yes he does. He'll probably take the fifth, but just seeing his carcass pulled in front of Congress does my heart good.

but who is going to enforce the subpoenas?

I am free to have my opinion and I hope my opinion is wrong, but people who ignore the subpoenas will not appear. They may get fined, but some dark money billionaire will pay the fine.

No, the only course of action that I see that can get results is for DOJ to get involved, it has the clout to get things done. The DOJ needs to be doing the investigating.

Butt bleach. Which I've heard is popular with adult movie stars.

I, of course, have no knowledge of such, it's just what I've heard.
