My best friends aunt (60 y. o. and unvaccinated due to being anti vax) had been going to her job at Subway for several days while feeling ill (cough and severe fatigue). She did not believe she had Covid because she and a neighbor had recently gotten some Ivermectin and taken some. Not sure how long ago that was.
Long story short, she collapsed in her car after working her last shift, was later taken to the hospital, tested for Covid, got a positive result. Her pulse ox was 70.
Shes at home now, and doing better. Still in denial that she had Covid.
But I cant get over how irresponsible it is to go to work feeling ill in a place where youre handling food. I dearly hope Subway made the employees wear masks. No wonder we cant make better progress with the pandemic here.
And yes I get it that people are afraid to call off sick from their jobs for fear of being penalized or fired. I hate this virus!

(16,838 posts)showed up sick for work. It's her fault too, of course, but it seems like a restaurant should have an obligation to make sure their staff isn't passing around any potentially fatal viruses while they're making those $10 sandwiches. I hope that word gets around about that store and their business suffers greatly.

(22,077 posts)What is wrong w/ people?! Working while sick, denying it all in the meantime, and then they collapse, near death and still don't admit that they are wrong, that they are sick, that they are NUTS!

(3,764 posts)At least the kind you get when you open a can and add various things to it to make tuna salad. I would possibly also expect mayonnaise, pickle relish, chopped eggs and onions to be in the tuna on a tuna salad sandwich.

(22,077 posts)but I guess you had to share your concerns with me and others, or also you have had issues w/ Subway in the past and have a grudge perhaps.

(44,972 posts)I guess they are convincing themselves that ivermectin can prevent covid? Covid is not a parasite.

(4,428 posts)Of the specific address of the Subway where she worked. People have a right to know when they are victims of a criminal act like this. And they have a right to sue that particular Subway for fsiliring to maintain a safe work environment for their employees, and/or a safe eating establishment that meets health department standards.
Name names.

(58,605 posts)because "it's just a cold." It's why the cold/flu season is so damaging, everybody goes to work sick.
We've been trained to think that the job is the most important thing in our lives, and because so many of us are in survival mode it has worked.
