General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAt times I need to check that I am actually reading posts on Democratic Underground.
But the actual investment piece is mainly in the Infrastructure bill, and the BBB bill is mainly an increase in government expenses.
The it being the build Back Better agenda. Note the "scare" quotes around the word "investment".
And when I read this part: "the BBB bill is mainly an increase in government expenses", I cursed out loud.
I never thought that I would have to argue on Democratic Underground that investing in the social safety net to provide more opportunities for working families was indeed an INVESTMENT in America, yet here I am.
I just don't know what else to say or think at this point.

The companies for whom I worked paid for 3 master's degrees & a PhD.
I can assure you that those companies made investments that provided a return.
Yet, I was never a tangible asset.
Investing in people is a good plan.

(28,812 posts)I have heard many things on here lately that make me wonder.
Iconic posters are stepping back, wondering where the Be a Democrat on DU is.
I dont remember it being so fear mongering and not entirely respectful.

(70,671 posts)and how we have daunting odds against us,
a well-meaning DUer replied sort of accusing me of "giving up" and "not having hope." He said that the BIDEN agenda of investment and jobs would bring voters over to our side. When I said that a whole chunk of died-in-the-wool wingnuts and those who vote against their self-interest will *never* come over to our side, he sort of accused me of not believing in the investment/jobs agenda. I had to opt out of this spinning of the wheels.
Parallel trains of thought, never meeting.
