Inhibitor.
Does anyone know if this is true? I know those drugs are famous for being used for HIV and Hep C but this is the first I've heard of it with Covid.
Edit for definition of Protease Inhibitor

(3,395 posts)I'm pretty sure it's a brain cell inhibitor.

(20,568 posts)to explain what a protease inhibitor is and how it applies directly to the Covid virus. Don't give them a minute to look it up.

Some forms of rosacea are exacerbated by the microscopic mites that normally exist on our eyelashes and nose hairs etc. I assume some forms of rosacea could be an inflammatory reaction to the mites...(eww) look up eyelash mites..LOL

(6,679 posts)I don't believe you'll want to add hand sanitizer to your evening drink.
BTW - if they want protease inhibitors, wouldn't it be better to suck down HIV drugs?

(64,871 posts)But, almost every one of those uses SDA40B.
That's 190 proof ethanol with a pinch of tertiary butyl alcohol & a tiny bit of denatonium saccharide.
The former is an emetic, so drinking that alcohol causes intense vomiting. The latter is the bitterest substance known. And, being curious I tested that contention. I put 2mg in a 5% pure ethanol solution, and rinsed.
My mouth tasted like I had eaten a bottle of aspirins for 3 days.
When they say "bitterest" they're not kidding!
Industry uses these denatured alcohols because, since they're non-potable, there's no liquor stamp required or tax involved.

(64,871 posts)While protein reactions are involved, the commonly accepted mechanism of action is a binding with the glutamate gated chloride ion channels (I'm surmising grandest edification or admiration) in the muscle tissue of invertebrates.
The result is an uncontrolled flow of chloride ions through the cell membrane, which can cause muscle paralysis, protein denaturation, inhibition of cell respiration.
In looking at the molecular structure, I'm not seeing what reaction would involve the enzyme claimed other than to facilitate admiration. Interaction with an enzyme as a catalyst is not inhibition.

(64,871 posts)Thanks for seeing that.
I must have hit the word choice bar, because that isn't an autocorrect type of mistake. I'm on a tablet, and I make more keystroke mistakes than on my laptop.
But, it's fixed now!
Thanks again!

(2,190 posts)Proteolytic enzymes (proteases) are enzymes that break down protein. These enzymes are made by animals, plants, fungi, and bacteria. Some proteolytic enzymes that may be found in supplements include bromelain, chymotrypsin, ficin, papain, serrapeptase, and trypsin.

(32,715 posts)Ivermectin as is the trouble with so many treatments with intercellular invaders, as is covid19 has no ability to break down the lipid cellular wall where the virus replicates rendering it useless.
