Its time.
In fact, its past time.
Biden needs to go to them and say tell me what you need for two things to happen:
1. To get your buy in on both infrastructure bills.
2. To get your buy in on a carve out for voting rights.
If they dont respond with that carrot 🥕 request, then you use the stick.
I dont know what that stick would be.
But, Im sure they have skeletons and weaknesses.
Time for hardball.
Our democracy is at stake.
We must pull out all of the stops.
Use any and all ammunition that you can find.

(8,329 posts)She changes party and there is no bill no nothing, so maybe not such a good plan. Even if she goes from D to I we loose the majority, the chairmanships and the leadership.

(23,531 posts)she knows she probably won't get reelected as a dem or elected as a republican.
So she can take the money from the corporations and if we push her too hard she can switch parties before the election and we would lose the ability to get anything passed.

(7,447 posts)Manchin is at least talking. He's for some tax increases on corporations and the wealthy. He's for prescription drug costs being lowered. He is for at least one out of the big three main policies (in his words, pick one). Do I think that's great, no. But it's light years ahead of Sinema who:
1. Won't raise any taxes.
2. Won't agree to prescription drug cost reform
In fact, the only thing she appears to be down for is some climate change stuff, but she knows full well Manchin isn't on board with that so one wonders if it's a ruse.
Sinema is the real problem, if it were just Manchin, we'd have a deal by now, not a great deal, but a deal.

(15,204 posts)...I think it's a fairly safe bet, if Biden and Senate Democrats are willing to play rough, those sticks exists and they know what they are and how to use them.
