What usually happens is that you can no longer swallow correctly, so you aspirate food when you try to eat. It's usually the resulting pneumonia from the aspiration that finally gets you.

which fcuked up his immune system. So yeah, he died of Covid complications because his immune system was shot due to the cancer. But at 84 he was in a high risk group even though fully vaccinated. he had multiple risk factors.

and immuno-suppressants obviously leave one wide open for a bad outcome. I doubt he got much benefit from the vaccine, that his body was able to create adequate antibodies. My myeloma specialist said half her patients hadn’t.

9. Yes, he died due to complications from Covid

That was the statement published either by his family or those responsible for publishing on his behalf. I have to assume they know what happened. I also think they didn't intend to cause any controversies by saying that he died from Covid while being vaccinated.
I'm sure there were other health issues, the age alone put him in a high risk group. But it's strange seeing people here claim he didn't die from Covid. That's exactly what the Covid deniers and anti-vaxxers do. For most severe Covid cases one could point to complications or a compromised immune system.

The crucial point is that everyone should get vaccinated not only for themselves but also to reduce the risk of those who suffer these kind of complications.

14. His cause(s) of death aren't as clear cut as many want to make it
Mon Oct 18, 2021, 06:19 PM

Anti-vaxxers and COVID conspiracists are trying to latch onto Powell's death as evidence the vaccines don't work. Posters here, and others, are walking it back to show there were several extenuating circumstances which nearly negated any benefit supposedly derived from his vaccinations.

The truth can sometimes be more complicated than it appears. Did COVID amount to the final push over the edge for Powell? Yes, but the wealth of co-morbidities can't be dismissed as contributions. Especially the myeloma and its treatment.

10. He had a type of blood cancer

That my dad - and most folks who were exposed to agent blue and pink get. I would bet his cancer wasn't showing up in his blood work.

Having watched the internal melt my dad went through - Powell probably went faster and with less pain due to Covid.
