An 18-year-old man from Jamacia continues to recover after a horrifying, violent attack that saw him beaten, kidnapped, and set ablaze.
Local newspaper The Gleaner reports that the victim ventured to Montego Bay under the impression he was meeting a man from a dating site for a date. When he arrived, the man from the site appeared with two other men who robbed the victim of his ATM card, wallet and cell phone. The three men then assaulted the victim, leaving him bound as they went to withdraw cash from a nearby ATM.
The three men returned shortly thereafter, unsuccessful in withdrawing the money. Then they forced him to transfer money into his account for them to withdraw. They also continued to assault the victim, cutting off part of his penis. The three men, who were also drinking at the time, doused the victim in liquor, set him on fire, and left him for dead.
He is a very lucky young man because although they left him in a critical condition, he managed to make his way to a security checkpoint in the community where they assisted him to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, a local police officer told The Gleaner.

Oh, it gives bigots a sense of self-righteousness but part of their self-satisfaction is in knowing there will be attacks against the LGBTQ community.
The bigots usually claim it's the "wages of sin" or some other bullshit, while they pretend to be outraged by what hate, their hate, causes.
I've never met or heard of a homophobe with a "sincerely held" religious belief. If you promote, support, or enable discrimination of, or a denial of rights to, LGBTQ people - then you're nothing but a piece of shit hater.
And I don't give a fuck who you are.

That goes back to patriarchy - with warped notions of what it means to be a man or a woman - and patriarchy is all over religion.

(10,156 posts)The main premise of trans panic is that a heterosexual man is so overwhelmed after realizing someone he had a sexual relationship with is trans that in a state of something like temporary insanity he ends up killing the person. And somehow that always gets them off. You killed another fucking human over your fragile masculinity!

Nothing even remotely sincere about this. Only sadism, bigotry, cruelty, and hatred.

(90,762 posts)a bigot and someone who is religious - like the two are somehow mutually exclusive.
You know, to their thinking, a bigot has one set of motives and the religious another. (As if)
You also see this in (some) people talking about abortion.
And not just there.

Be watchful always for buzzwords and buzz phrases designed to pull your chain, ring your chimes, or otherwise earwig themselves straight through your eyes (visual) and/or ears (audible) straight into the brain. And it imbeds in whatever parts of the brain visceral, emotional, evocative responses are generated. Trigger words and phrases. That plant seeds. Seeds that blossom and bear fruit.

The hate in people's hearts is the saddest of all humanity.
May this young man heal both physically and emotionally.
