Overnight, he had his lawyers file an injunction against the NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) to request they be prevented from turning over the White House records of 1/6 to the Select Committee.
What are they trying to cover up?
Trump is pulling out all his legal tricks and maneuvers to keep the truth hidden.

(44,992 posts)Trump's doom is inevitable. All this squirming is just wasting his own money and everyone else's time.

(18,973 posts)This 1/6 committee won't be the downfall of Trump, it will just uncover some embarrassing things, but Trump rarely is hurt by being embarrassed further. It is a political exercise.

(111,056 posts)It does distract and divert attention away from the actual attack upon our Capitol. But again, it could be the smoking gun.

(58,605 posts)I mean, suing is trump's modus operandi. It is his go to strategy. When in doubt, sue. When being sued, counter-sue.
The problem is that it generally works, because it delays things. The courts are so slow that very few people are able to outlast trump and trump industries in civil court, so he gets a settlement that may not get him everything he wants, but will damn sure not hurt as bad as it probably should have when he "loses" that settlement. Given the current backlog from the covid shutdowns and the current swarm of actions for the Capitol insurrectionists it would be surprising if things get resolved in any way quickly.
trump is such a sociopath that suing and counter-suing is just a reflex action on his part. most of the good shit on trump is already in the public domain anyway because he doesn't use email, just twitter. Like his minions who have been rounded up for the assault on the Capitol, things were acted out publicly on social media.

(58,605 posts)already, the public has mostly moved on from Jan 6. Sad, but true to the extent that the RW echo chamber has been downplaying what really happened and what it signifies to their constituencies. When such a huge section of the voting public have been brainwashed into thinking it was no big deal, it's hard to maintain any momentum to keep such detailed investigations going.
And if Congress flips in '22, they will basically win.

(111,056 posts)But we don't know. We haven't had a national election since 1/6. There may be more people unhappy with what happened than we realize and will never forget.
