Now I am NOT against the vaccine or the booster in any way, I am curious if anyone had side effects from the booster? He didn't have any with the first two shots. This one, he has been in bed all day, totally wiped out. Now, with that said, even he said "it beats the hell out of covid" and he works with students so it is important for him to be protected. My symptoms from the booster were very mild. Just wondering if we should call a doctor about this? I have just been pushing fluids, and trying not to bother him.

(17,425 posts)It went away maybe 36 hours after it started?
Reaction began about 12 hours after the shot.

(17,425 posts)He's not sick, it's just his immune system reacting.
You don't worry either.
I mean, keep an eye on his symptoms, but he'll most likely be fine.

Fluids are good. Hope it passes in 24.

(24,885 posts)Much much more uncomfortable than the first two. Then just stopped.
No I did not need to go to the ER or call my doctor.

(12,265 posts)I am most likely overreacting, that is what he told me .

(16,844 posts)with the booster. All were Moderna. Hope your husband gets back to normal soon. I haven't heard about any long-term problems with the boosters, but if his symptoms last longer than another day, it might be a good idea to tell your doctor.

(44,973 posts)I had a fever for two days and a Moderna arm.

(12,265 posts)I guess after seeing all of these posts I just need to keep him comfortable, push the fluids and shut up .

(44,973 posts)I did not have that with either first or second shot, but got it with the third. It went away after about a week.
Baked Potato
(7,733 posts)hours after the shot. It was painful for a couple days. Also had aches in my joints and just felt lousy for a couple days. Then it passed. Mrs. Potato had localized redness at the site and it was a little itchy. She also had a swollen armpit and felt lousy for the same time as me. Way more reaction then after the first two.
Lochloosa
(16,063 posts)I was the same. Wiped out for a day. Sore arm.
He should feel better tomorrow.
I got a full shot.

(12,265 posts)We are totally on board with the vaccine. I wanted to see if this was common. With any drug there are bad reactions possible. I love him and worry, that is all. He would do it again in a minute trust me, he is a scientist.

(21,319 posts)from the CDC are 1/2 dose. My pharmacy is abiding by those guidelines and is not quite ready yet to give boosters.
If 2 aspirins cure your headache why take 4?

(28,075 posts)I pretty much took to my bed for a day after each one & was dragging for a few days after that. I also felt it was a small price to pay if I avoided Covid.

(17,285 posts)Husband zero issues just like the last two shots. Sister felt draggy and took a nap this afternoon, but she had similar side effects last time that lasted longer and also included chills.
So nothing significant 🙂

(12,265 posts)I am trying to see if this is abnormal since he didn't have any side effects with the first two doses. This has really put him down, I'll see how he is in the morning. Glad your side effects were mild .

(44,973 posts)Like I said I had the worst reaction to the booster.
You could always contact a doctor anyway if you are concerned or his symptoms worsen.

(28,929 posts)I haven't ever had a reaction to any Flu vaccines and nothing with Pfizer 1 and 2 but I most certainly was not 100% after the Pfizer booster. I still worked but then needed to sleep when I got home and didn't have much energy at all. Was back to normal after about 48 hours.
Meowmee
(5,164 posts)I reacted to all three. This time I had an immediate reaction as with the first. First time flushing feeling of face and palpitations right after shot, it passed quickly and then a few hours later the other stuff. This time I was more worried, lots more palpitations and my throat had a little thick feeling and mucus. I had my brother buy Benadryl there just in case. I felt pretty sick for about a week, the heart symptoms continued but eventually resolved. I also had the usual low grade fever, myalgia, more swelling, itching and worse pain in my arm, itching overall, headache, runs etc. I still dont feel that great but much better now. I thought I might have to go to a doc but didnt. I have a lot of severe stress in my life right now and have not been feeling well before this so that could have affected the reaction as well, but not the initial reaction I think.

(4,074 posts)I have been sleeping since 10am today and look forward to the couch, a quilt and Grey's Anatomy for the night. Have had a headache, felt cold, but actually my body temp is slightly warmer than it usually is,,,, and just tired & groggy and not hungry. This reaction is somewhat different from the 2nd dose. I am thinking that I'll feel much better tomorrow.

(79,296 posts)as I was contacted Friday to schedule for my booster shot.
Question: aren't we supposed to get excused from work in order to get these shots?

(146,288 posts)I had a minor headache and felt tired all day yesterday, but didn't take a nap, although I thought about it.
Side effects are very individual, though. In most cases, though, people feel much better the next day after having side effects.
Rest and some Tylenol should help.

(28,858 posts)I had side effects after all three shots.
Each got progressively worse, but nothing
to stop me from getting another shot if I
ever have to.
None of the side effects lasted more than a
day.
But after that third shot, it was one miserable
day... nausea the morning after, hot skin,
sore arm, and a sluggish achy feeling.

(68,555 posts)increases the immunity by using a different one for the booster. I went to get it today but the minute clinic can't do it until Monday. I had an appointment but they had not started mixing vaccines...weirdly enough, if I had an appointment with the pharmacy it would be fine. CVS pharmacy could have done it today but I didn't have an appointment. They can do it probably Monday.

(44,973 posts)"People who got the Moderna vaccine for their original shots and Moderna again for their booster appear to have gotten the best immune response, followed by those who got Pfizer boosted by Moderna and then Moderna boosted by Pfizer although the increase in immune response with the mRNA vaccines was probably too small to really make a difference in protection in most groups."

(145,147 posts)This was not the booster shot but the full dose because my doctors were worried about me being immunocompromised due to a low antibody test result. I felt like crap the next day but was fine the day after.
A week later, my internist gave me the high dose of the flu vaccine even though I will not turn 65 for a couple of months. I had no reaction.
My youngest child had a sever reaction with her second moderna shot and they had us alternate tylenol and NSIDs This worked.

I had my Moderna primary doses in the spring.
I did have a minor reaction. The same kind of reaction as the second dose, but less intense. In short, I felt a little fatigued, and a little fevery, though I never had a fever. Had fairly vivid dreams that night and woke up Saturday feeling a little worn out. But was back in action by Saturday afternoon. Had arm soreness too. Still a LITTLE sore this morning, but now largely a non-event.
Glad I did it!
