"SNIP......
The National Republican Senatorial Committee has been testing dozens of potential messages that might claw back suburban voters who drifted toward Democrats during Donald Trumps presidency, and lines of attack related to education show as much potential for the midterms as inflation, immigration and crime.
I obtained a 45-slide PowerPoint recently presented to Republican senators that summarizes findings from a previously unreported internal poll of 1,200 likely voters in 2022 suburban battlegrounds. Notable results included:
Seventy-eight percent agreed that many public-school systems in America are failing and children are falling behind the rest of the world.
Sixty-five percent agreed that allowing biological males to compete against women in high school and college sports is hugely unfair and will erase many of the gains women have made in athletics over the last 50 years.
Fifty-eight percent agreed that critical race theory should not be taught in schools because children should not be told they are inherently racist simply because of the color of their skin.

In 2020 the limit was $400,000
Think of all the parents that will be disenfranchised

We USED to study 'social studies,' for one thing, but I'm way older than today's students; sadly, the victims include my grandchildren.

(12,237 posts)Most sane people know that republicans has damaged a lot of what is happening, if any. For the past 4 years education was on the chopping block just like USPO and other institutions across the USA.
I've noticed how these articles always tend to hold up the republican party and always tear down the Democratic Party. Heck as usual they are already writing that the "Build Back Better" project is a failure.

(3,491 posts)People have no idea that its a college level, law specific class. They hear the whole its making white kids guilty of crimes they never committed thing and go apeshit. Ive had discussions on the job with guys who are furious about it and after I explain what it is and who is pushing this bullshit they calm down. Im not sure that they believe me though. Im guessing they get back in their car at the end of the day and listen to whatever right wing nutjob is selling the lie.
Our guys should concentrate on and push the policies that large majorities of the country agree with. The right pushes the social justice stuff because it helps them.

CRT inherently puts us into reactive mode - the whole controversy is made up out of thin air, yet somehow we have to defend ourselves against it

(7,509 posts)Was slavery wrong? Yes!
Was Jim Crow wrong? Yes!
Should that be taught in schools? Yes!
Those who suggest differently are part of the white grievance brigade that is fueling this farce.
