SOME of us are OLDER, like born in 194something, some even OLDER than that, like born in 192something.
SADDER still, Virginians elect governors from the Other party from that which just won the presidency.

(27,084 posts)I'm genuinely curious, because every woman of my acquaintance fights looking older in at least little ways.
Not to the extent of actually getting face-lifts and stuff, but dying their hair to cover gray, make-up to cover wrinkles, and stuff like that.

(27,084 posts)Looking back at pictures now, she looked just fine.
But, she considered herself fat and therefore ugly, so my sister and I very much internalized fat = ugly and have been obsessed with our weight our entire adult lives....
My sister battled anorexia at one point....

(130,825 posts)My mother died young, she was young, brother and I were quite young; Dad remarried, and our adopted mother had a great sense of humor, did die her hair, but we didn't think anything of it.
My 'major' complaint about Dad, he wanted me to go to law school, said I'd ENJOY it! HAHAHAHAHAHA! (I did it on my own, later, didn't enjoy the school part, while working at the same time,) did enjoy the practice of law; enjoying retirement, and thanks to We the People, enjoying use of Fed govt. pension to do so.

(15,364 posts)Born in 70-something. 20's was by far my favorite, 40's stinks. I can no longer move with blinding speed, pounce like a cat, and and have the flexibility of a gymnast.

(6,679 posts)Somewhere around 40 is when I felt old for the first time. I remember distinctly having a little trouble getting up off the floor after sitting cross legged for several hours playing with little ones. A few days later one of my favorite songs came on the radio set to the "oldies" station.
Within a few years the "old" feeling passed and I made peace with the minor inconveniences of aging and fact "cool" moves on. I can still get in the floor and get up fine, but it isn't very elegant and I make crackling sounds.

(25,442 posts)for actual old people to hear about "I'm old" because the serious old people problems come later. But when being old is new, it's weird! Like going to bed early and waking up early. What the hell.
