Montana's attorney general went rogue and sent a state trooper into a hospital after doctors refused

to give a COVID-19 patient ivermectin, official says

When a Montana hospital refused to treat an 82-year-old COVID-19 patient with the drug ivermectin earlier this month, a state trooper showed up and doctors got "harassed and threatened" by three different public officials, the hospital told local media outlets.

A county official told Insider that the Montana Highway Patrol trooper had been dispatched by the state's attorney general - who had no authority to do so.

The patient at the center of the dispute had been admitted to St. Peter's Health in Helena in mid-October, and was put on a treatment plan that was "not working," according to a Facebook post from the Montana Federation of Republican Women.

The post added that the patient requested a prescription for ivermectin, but was denied by the hospital. When she obtained a prescription from an outside doctor, the hospital told her she would have to check out if she wanted to take it, the post said.

Sure, some outside doc, presumably with no admitting or staff privilege's to the facility, prescribed the de-wormer, but how is such a thing in any way above board? Or accepted medical practice? Did the doc know the patient, or the circumstances of her illness? If not, that's as bad, if not worse, than the "without a license" scenario. When does the AMA or other physician licensing boards start hammering these quacks and revoking licenses to practice? (I worked in a hospital for many years and the background work/checks for a doc to get admitting or staff privilege's to the facility were really stringent.)

if the patient had the COVID vaccine or not. If no, then what the hell are they doing in the hospital in the first place, since they clearly don't trust medicine to help them?

If they had the vaccine then why the hell do they want sheep dip in a human hospital?

If it were at all legal or responsible, hospitals should just refuse treating these fucking doorknobs, and give them directions to the nearest feed store.

I'm sick to death of these type of stories and the assholes who cause them. It pisses me off that I have to share the planet with stupid shits like this.

in the nation per capita for the Trump virus. Or maybe second to worst after Alaska.

I ordered a pizza for pickup at a nearby bar tonight. I waited until I knew the pizza had to be ready for me, masked up, and went inside, practically holding my breath. No one else in the bar had a mask on, except for one other soul who was also there to pickup a to-go order.

Only my love for pizza kept me from racing back out the door. When I got home, I nuked the slice of pizza I was going to eat, just to be certain it was free of Covid.

I just don't understand how people here can be so lah-dee-dah about the pandemic, when it's as bad here in MT as it ever was, worse even.

I see few people with masks, although a few more since they went back to remote learning in the local school district, but fewer as the days go by, when I go out that is.

A couple high schoolers coughed at me the other day as I exited a business. I just casually looked at them and said, "I hope you get sick, assholes" and went to my car.

I am getting a divorce from Montana in the near future. I love this place but I can't watch its decline any longer.

Still, I feel like Montana needs all the sane people it can get, so for now, we're staying.

struggle with it but I don't feel safe here anymore for most of the same reasons I left Idaho. It just isn't going to be a place I can live while I watch the landscape turn into tourism gone awry in every nook and cranny. If it isn't the tourists all over on their ATVs, it's the trophy home owners. They seem to think nobody was here until they showed up.

And the AG should lose his license to practice law. The hospital should get an award for medical competence and the patient should sort out their funeral plans.
