Congressional investigators are preparing to seek testimony from John Eastman, the attorney who crafted a legal strategy to help Donald Trump try to overturn the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, Politico reports.
In the aftermath of Trumps defeat in the election, Eastman helped the outgoing president chart a legal strategy that included petitioning the Supreme Court to intervene in the election and throw out the electoral votes of four states that propelled Joe Biden to his Electoral College victory. When that effort failed, Eastman drafted a strategy to persuade then-Vice President Mike Pence to throw out the election results himself.

As an editor, this drives me nuts.
Couldn't they write "Congressional investigators WILL SEEK testimony from John Eastman..."?
So frustrating.

The committee has requested documents and communications related to Eastmans legal advice and analysis on how President Donald Trump could seek to overturn the election results and remain in office.
Eastman told The Washington Post last week that he had not been contacted by the panel investigating the insurrection, but a person familiar with the select committees work disputed that claim and said investigators have been in touch with Eastman. This person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations, added that a subpoena would be avoidable if Eastman cooperated with the committees investigation voluntarily. The committee is expected to issue subpoenas to other witnesses in the days ahead.
