My wife and I had our Moderna booster shots Sunday here in North Carolina, made appointment at local CVS in Goldsboro at 9 am for 11 am, waited maybe 10 minutes at CVS. No side effects whatsover for me, though I had a sore shoulder for a few days after the first and second shots. Wife had a slightly sore shoulder for a day or so, now only very slightly sore on Tuesday morning with some itchiness.
The pharmacist who administered the shots said that the people now appearing for their initial shots seem to be mostly under 40 who apparently have had a change of mind from initially resisting the shots or who were required to get them by their employers.

(5,442 posts)My initial shot was the J&J. My reaction was tiredness, which the pharmacist said to expect. Not too tired on Saturday, but just wanted to stay on the sofa and nap the following two days. It lifted yesterday afternoon and I feel back to normal now.

(1,477 posts)I had chills, aches and tiredness for about a half day. Tylenol helped the aches and a nap helped the tiredness. The symptoms left as quickly as they came.

(15,089 posts)I had no side effects with the first shot and a really sore arm with the second shot. The booster seems to also be just a sore armso far a bit less sore than last time.

(11,122 posts)About 18 hours after had fever, chills, sore joints.
I'm in my 70s. Some of my friends had no effect. I was sore and tired for about a day and a half.
Much better than the alternative. I would still get the shot if it had lasted a week. I've seen Covid. I don't want it. You don't want it.

(16,616 posts)It was so strange because the chills and fever kicked in 24 hours after I received the shot and lasted six hours and then just abruptly stopped. I was tired for a few days, but the worst side effects were basically over.
EDIT: changed 48 to 24 hours.

(16,616 posts)I'm getting mine just as soon as I'm eligible. I really want the Moderna because my original vaccination was the Moderna and I'm not so crazy about the "Mix and Match" thing. But I'll take whatever I can get.

(42,770 posts)Two of my in-laws in the medical profession, both said that doctors speak about this as a very good thing. You might get protection from one vaccine that you didn't get from another.

(3,110 posts)...for those that did mix and match with the two mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer). Mix and matching gives your body more ways to recognize the virus and attack it.

(28,858 posts)I felt awful for a day -- nausea in the morning, overall
achy and sluggish, and skin very hot to the touch.
The next day it was better.
I didn't medicate so the vaccine could do its work.

(6,278 posts)But I took Tylenol for the pain, it was too much.
Almost back to normal 4 days after, although arm is still sore, swollen and itchy.
But I had awful reactions to both Pfizer vaccines, and all Costco had was the Moderna when I went in. Which even at the booster half dose is more than what was in Pfizer full dose.
So, Im glad Im better protected.
ananda
(28,858 posts)That third one caused a stronger reaction than the first two.
I didn't medicate bc I didn't want anything to interfere with
the vaccine.
However, unlike you, my pain and sluggishness were not
unbearable.
I think you'll still be well vaxxed. Especially if Delta is the
only variant.

(65,010 posts)...i had fever & aches for 14 hours, almost exactly.
Not "run over by a truck" bad, but pretty crappy.

(65,010 posts)Just felt crummy. Fever bounced from 99 to 101, shoulders & upper back aching, felt tired.
I actually played 18 holes & cooked later.
Then, around 8pm, I noticed I felt much better, all at once. Checked temp and got 97.4.
Started at 6am (about 45 minutes after I got up) ended around 8pm. Came on fast, went away fast.
I'm hoping that since the booster is only a half dose, it will be less impactful.

My are was a little sore for a couple of days. I had no side effects at all.
I's so relieved to have gotten it! I'm a substitute teacher so I'm around teenagers (who've all received their shots) all day.

(10,163 posts)It's a reminder for me to hunt down a booster.
I asked the VA about getting my booster for Moderna and they hemmed and hawed. I'm not quite 65 yet but my last vaccine was 7 months ago and I have some health issues. I could probably convince Walgreens to give me a booster if the VA drags their feet. It's not like people here in TN are screaming for the shot.

(823 posts)...during the day nothing happened. Then at night going to bed, I started feeling chilled and was shaking. This went on for awhile until it wore off and I was sweating a bit. After this, I was aching all over. These are the antibodies making their rounds. Feeling better this morning.

Why the need for a Medicare number? Why ask insurance information? Isn't the government paying for these?
I registered as having no insurance. When we got there my check in was a breeze. My wife, who signed up with a medicare number, had more forms to fill.
I suspect the Covid-19 shots were just added to their regular vaccination sign up app.
